So met up with this kid i know last night (on a private of course) to see how fast his corsa was, kept telling some of the lads he'd beat 197 clio's, new S3's etc and i thought noway can it be that fast.... F**k me they are, could not leave him upto 125mph then he over took me without trying, i didnt even manage to get into sixth (mainly because we ran out of road and we all know the s3 brake's are *****).
Parked up and was talking away and he said "yeah i had to keep letting of the throttle because you were in front :scared2: and wouldnt move.
Could not believe how fast it was, best thing is though his car weighs 1700kg and its pumpin out 207bhp.
Now as far as im aware isnt the S3 1435kg and 210bhp, so how much power does the s3 lose through transmission or what
 
No actualy cheif their 198 standard but the artic's came with an optional remus exhaust that takes them upto 207bhp
Haha thought the same thing, really considering one now though
 
why? they are corsa's.... yeah they look nice but at the end of the day its a CORSA.... try it out on bends next time and watch as he tries to plant 207bhp going around a 30 degree bend.... hedge time, typical Vauxhall, i bet they oversteer like a legless cow on ice

1700kg? hahaha, I dont think so. that's more than an RS4!!!

quoted figure on parkers for the corsa VXR is 1223kg, which sounds far more likely.

That would give it 169bhp/ton if it had the 207 you say (although parkers quote 204bhp)

THe 210 S3 at your quoted weight of 1435kg would have just 146bhp/ton.

No wonder it was quicker than the S3..... it ****** well should be!

The S3 in standard form really isn't a quick car at all. My 1971 Mini puts out 207bhp/ton!!! Imagine your shame if you got beaten by that!
 
the S3 in standard will take on most hatches as standard.... some hot hatches too so isnt that much of a slug..... comparing it to a mini or a corsa which is far lighter isnt a right.... relax in the kknowledge that you could map it and beat him, although if he maps id guess in a straight line would be back in his favour again...on the bends you'lll take him out i reckon even with your ****** suspension which isnt bad for a car that weighs so much more
 
Corsa will not weigh 1700kg.....does not surprise me thats its quick, the Astra VXR is very quick also...

S3 is 1375kg....
 
am I right in thinking that the arctic corsa vxr's are a neurburgring edition?

they look awesome, and are pretty fast, But as said, see how it does on the corners, and it is just a corsa, Audi s3 any day! i have been left (Standard AMK S3) by a corsa c with a vxr engine in, now that was fast! but again, the handling, the build quality, the dealer service, the interior the list goes on! The Audi s3 is on a differant level!

Well when he said that i thought hold on there's something wrong here if my S3's lighter than your car, at the time though i didnt have aclue what the weight of his car was so was just going on what he said.
I wasnt ashamed at all mate, far from it, i know the S3 isnt the fast thing by amile and it doesnt bother me one bit :)
 
Not comparing s3, not by along shot, just mearly commenting what took place between an S3 and Vxr corsa

Remap it and bust his ***!! And if he gets map too take him down some twisty roads and when he falls off the road stop and help him pull the twigs from between his teeth!!:)
 
threads like this just bring the S3 haters out IMO.... i like to know what our cars do against others out of curiousity but there are several that poke up everytime talkin about how crap the S3 is....

I agree mate, we all know what the S3 is and tbh none of us ever BIG it up tobe the fastest or best handling car in the world but like you say you always get the haters who just cant help themselfs.

Well just thought id make you all aware how fast the artic is... Job done :icon_thumright:
 
I'm not supprised the Corsa was faster than a standard S3. Its lighter and has more power. Now a days, a standard S3 is just too slow. I mapped mine within a couple of weeks of owning it!
 
I'm not a fan of Vauxhalls, in fact its safe to say that Vauxhall is my least favourite mainstream marque. But I think theres a few overly snobbish responses here. If this was the RS4 forum or something, maybe Id understand. But the newest cars owned on this forum are 6 years old, with most being 8/9/10 years old. We're hardly in a position to be elitist about cars that are worth 1 1/2 to 2 times more than our cars, even if they are chavved up shopping trolleys.

4wd cars lose up to 33% of the bhp comperd to as much lower loss form the fwd and if he puts more then 260 bhp in his car it will not handle atall were as the 4wd s3 will go as high as you like.and on the up side your in a audi and no other car can compete with the joy from that
 
How if possible do you get more power at the wheels?

Corsa artic?, an articulated Corsa??. I'd be gutted if I got rinsed by one of those ;)

However, if my mate rinsed me in his Corsa VXR Arctic then I wouldnt mind at all, properly quick little car. Doesnt feel fast when you're in it but ****** hell they move.

Not worth getting your front door smashed in for the keys though...sadly.

dont agree with a cpl of the comments - the s3 is quick out of the box, if it can live with focus st's, audi 3.2's, clio cups, civic type r's that are all a lot newer then i give it the thumbs up performance wise.....some people on here do slate the s3, bit unfair methinks...just my two pense worth !!
 
Agreed the 4wd is excellent, commit hard into corners and stay on the power and you feel the back working - dry or wet...

Just to clarify, despite being in a highly argumentative mood today, I'm by no means a hater. I LOVE S3's.....

I prefer to think of myself as more realistic!
 
i found the spec of the artic corsa
With a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine under its bonnet and 189bhp as standard the VXR isn't slow. However, the VRX Arctic adds a further 15bhp to that thanks to the addition of a Remus exhaust system. The torque too increases from 170lb.ft to 192lb.ft for five seconds thanks to an overboost function on the turbo. That's all enough to allow the VXR to sprint to 62mph in just 6.8 seconds and onto a 140mph top speed if you can find a straight on a track long enough

they remap to 240 bhp
