Fun tricks with the 8P's

Are there any?

On my Corsa that i had before, you could close the windows by holding the lock button on the key fob, and do something with the lights so that they came on when you unlocked it.

Any nifty little tricks that i dont know about for the 8P?

U can open AND close the windows on your blip key. Just hold unlock to open and lock to close.

you can get a vagcom n set it up so if you brake hard, hazards come on, unlocking it can turn lights on n locking it will put lights on n turn off after say 20 seconds

You can make the doors lock when your going faster than 10mph or something. Also, the doors will unlock when you switch the engine off and take the key out.

I'm pretty sure I read somehere that you can get the current speed in digital format to appear on the DIS... anyone know how to do that?

Or how to access system stats using the climate control display/controls?

Uhm, i can get my Speed in Digital just by flicking thru the options on the stalk.

You can get an annoying bleep to go off when you exceed a speed that you set. Not seen seen a digital speed readout, but ut might be cool?

Probably is only when moving but it's the third "screen" on DIS, so scroll through comp 1 & 2 and the next screen should be digitial speed readout, followed by the menu

its only on the newer ones i think, i know my 2003 8p doesnt have it n i think it only came in in 2006 possibly, but i could be totally wrong!

Mine's an 07 S-Line and it does it, so I would have thought an 06 does. Just click the thumb button on the underside of the right-hand stalk.

My '06 does it, it's in the menu somewhere. Have a speedo in km/h and can set the digi speedo to read in mp/h, which I like

When I first got the car the temp for the climate was linked so you turned one and the other matched, although now it doesn't, and I haven't read the manual to see how to make it do that again!

Just hold the auto button in for a couple of seconds.

I like the fact the climate control is dependant on who's key is in the ignition.. I like it toastie warm where as my girlfriend like it cold. But we never have to adjust, as she just uses her key and it remembers temp's etc.

i found the hazard one really annoying when i had the courtesy car

how do you do the lights? not that i would probably ever use it....

There is a mini sun visor, right behind your rear view mirror Total waste of plastic but cool to find

auto locking function is done via vagcom, as with many of these little "tricks"

smudge in front of the rear view mirror up top is a little visor you can pull down its above the mirror in the trim ...its to create a solid line of shade if you have both sun visors down ....

Most of the posts above about will my car do are answered simply by 2 things, one is the features are relative to the year of car, the cluster fitted & the coding of Advanced Comfort Menu's etc aswell, the speedo in the DIS started from about 06-07 onwards, the advanced features like controlling lights, wipers etc also are related to these things, also if you have the full on DIS with 06 onwards car then flick through the menu's & you might see the speedo option, if not there then might be as above, the auto feature of the climate control to control both sides IIRC was just hold the AUTO button for few seconds & this returns to drivers side control of both.
