Right guys, decided to facelift the front of my car (2004 54 S-Line) to the later shape. I did not fancy the idea of an S line bumper as I prefer the look of the standard facelift bumper with the Votex skirt.
So I started at 10am this morning with this... A 2005 55 Sportback front bumper and a 2007 S line front grille and bonnet. (grille not in pic)
I removed the standard grille and swapped the chrome onto my ebay special lightly damaged S line grille. So this was my car at 10 am.
I got it jacked up and removed the wheels and set about the unscrewing of the front edge of the wheel arch liner. There are 4 x Torx bolts in here.
There is also a sneaky one hiding behing the liner holding the bumper upwards to the wing
Furthermore there is a 10mm bolt holding the bumper just under the headlight. Couldnt get a pic of this because i didnt remove the liners fully, just stuck my hand in the gap and undid it.
There are 2 other torx bolts on each front corner on the underside that look like this
There are also 3 bigger lugs in the same area that need to be unscrewed.
Once these are all undone you have to pop the bonnet and remove the 3 across the top of the grille.
You can now slide the bumper off. It will be tight by the wings, you need to pull it away front the wing to pop the slide it sits in.
As you can see i rested it on an old dust sheet because the fogs were still attached so i unclipped them
The new bumper was fitting in reverse order and it looked like this. As you can see the old bonnet doesnt fit!
Dont forget to test the fogs were working before putting and screws back in!
The bonnet was simple swapped over ( took around 15 mins of twiddling about to line it up correctly ) but here it is finished. Sorry I didnt take any pics of swapping the bonnet because I gave up on doing it myself and called my dad round to give me a hand! Its all rather obvious though!
I have a full votex kit to go on so look out for the next installment when it should look more like this
I'm happy to answer Q's anyone may have on the swap. Took about 3 hours all in inclusive of 2 tea breaks! Oh and if anyones interested in my plates, they are pressed metal but of the French variety, not German! Mainly because the German ones are so played out these days and the French font is smaller and looks cool IMHO!
