Is it possible to replace the cigarette lighter with a sort of rubber cap with '12v' on it? I'm sure I've seen that somewhere. Hate the cigarette image looking at me from the console!

I have an A3 Sportback with the 'No Smoking Pack' and my lighter socket is cover by a small sprung hinged flap that lifts for access to the 12v socket. Looking at the Parts Catalogue this seem to be part number 8P0 863 387 A with the further code of EC3 for light grey, 4D9 for indigo and 6PD for soul (black).

I have the Audi torch, for poseabilty and the '0000' logo on it go for the Audi torch but for functionality has to be as mike sudgested the Led lenser. I have a few of their torches and they really good quality and amazing peformance.

I was thinking about going for the Audi torch as the dealers forgot I'd requested the No smoking pack.

Are the rings on the cap side of the torch or on the glass itself ?

Is it possible to remove the ciggarette lighter and retrofit the non smoking thing?

I dont really want a fag lighter in my car ;)

Why not? Useful for disciplining passengers :whistle2:

PMSL true. But i'd prefer the flat panel to be honest.

Smoking kills, is a disgusting habit, stinks and generally is anti social and horrid.

Can you tell im an ex smoker?

So can anyone tell me how to remove that part of the console??

The best way is just to add the hinged cover that is used to cover the lighter with the Non-Smoking Pack. It just clips into the centre console in place. This way you still have it available as a 12v socket. I use mine for my small interior vacuum for example. When the sprung flap is closed you cannat see the lighter or even tell that it's there and the cover just looks like part of the trim.

I'm in the office at the moment but when I get home I will post a picture show it in my car.

hmm, trouble is I would really like to exchange the panel because My neice decided to play with the Lighter one day and managed to burn nice ring next to the socket.

Is it possible to remove the panel? Even if i ordered a new lighter piece then put a cover on the lighter id be a happy chappy :)

Yep, loud and clear ex-smoker :lmfao: I've tried every ****** thing apart from hypnosis and I still can't kick it :keule:Anyone got some willpower they want to sell me? Cash waiting...

I am a smoker, and have the non-smoking pack in my car. It too wants me to give up, judging by the amount of rainwater it dumps on my lap when I open the window...:drag:

I gave up 2 months ago on will power, and after trying EVERY other option, i can swear by it ;)

Still get the odd pang now and again, but really, it lasts about 1min and doesnt come back for days adn days. I would say im almost cured.

All i see when I clock a smoker now is dependancy, this spurs me on even more!!

If you need some more inspiration just look on the back of a fag packet :puke2:

This is the bit id like to completely remove and swap:

I saw the pretty pictures last time I came over - double pleasure was first giving out over 5 quid for 20 friggin' mayfair, and a nice picture of a bloke with a massive crusty red throat thing on the back :puke:

He had a cool moustache though :haha: although in his position I wouldn't be too bothered about personal grooming :puke:

Lol back o/t...does look loads better with the little flappy thing instead of a fag lighter sticking up

Here are two PDF files from Elsawin which show how easy it is to change from a visable cigarette lighter to a hidden 12v volt. Perhaps someone can tell us how much the part would cost.

Also two pictures with one showing the 12v with the cover in the closed position and the other showing it in the open position.

Anyone know the price of the cover ?

Thanks
Richard

is "a68- 0412" the part number?

If so, AWESOME!!

mmm, that looks a lot tidier

If you've ever been in a B6 A4 they all have a 'pop-up' cigarette lighter, with no nasty :drag: symbol visible - don't know why that was got rid of? As below:

I gave up a few months ago.

I found the best method to quit was to have kids then imagine them having to grow up without a dad .

Worked for me. :yahoo:

oh and also a kind nhs nurse who would have kicked my **** if i had a fag as i had to report to her each week :p

Seems like an interesting thread! Does anyone know the part numbers for these items? They look pretty straightforward to swap out.

Also, what goes where the ashtray is in the no smoking pack - just a little storage box or something? Can that be retro-replaced?

its a deeper storage pocket - I swapped my ashtray out too. It can be bought from the dealer, it wasnt dear, maybe about £17?

or you can install the RS4 engine start button with the pop up lighter. As a non smoker I have replaced it with the Audi LED torch. see pics.

8P0863387A6PS

£17.47 (retail) exc vat

The part number and price for the flippy lighter, the part number mentioned is for soul black. The last three letters will be different if your interior is a diff colour

Not wanting to hijack this thread....i'd like this on mine! Anyone on here able and willing to install one for me? I remember Marc Quinlivan was going to do it for some peeps, but don't know if it ever happened.
Any takers?
