Black Edition

hahahahahaha i smash it up but now at 32 my sheds gone lol 17 years of smashing it in and still doin it ,,hols to,, but not whores not my cup of tea ,,as for modding i like doing some like getting a car with full spec tint my windows lowered and 19 inch alloys as for retro fitting some stuff on here i coudnt deal with it id rather just pay to have it done by someone that knows and believe me i have not got loads of doe floating either about but i just cant be ***** id end up smashing the car in i just dont have the patience anymore ............but it does suck you in im like a freek now on this but i do have an addictive personality lol my bird hates this site lol.....

I still think the black could do with the chrome s3 grill along with bigger wheels or lowering another 10 mm.. Big wheels would really set these cars off.
Can you get these in 19"?

you said you cant stand modding lol ........come on son you love it

you said you cant stand modding lol ........come on son you love it

haha... i dont like modding.. The S3 grill looks better than the new facelift although i might be swayed now ive seen a pic of the new grill with the s-line badge fitted.
As for 19" wheels. Bigger wheels look better, always have and this applies to most cars.
The pics i was looking at dont do the car justice, the titanium wheels look much better in person.
Lowered can look right providing the wheels are right...
I dont love it... i just think Audi get some things wrong as do all manufacturers.
My last car was a Golf GT 130 in black.. The wheels were ****. All i did was fit A8 18" wheels and it looked the business, ace car.
Im better off financially now and the A3 is what im into looks wise.
I might love it in 3 weeks after i get my car..See you then.

i love the front theyve done a good job of that,,,, thats the only reason i fitted the cupra spoiler cos it looks much better also with the black grill on my sline but the front on the 09 i wouldnt touch its perfect like you say lowered 19s and subtle tints all round thats all i would do to the 09 but id do that to anycar i would purchase bmw, golf, merc, audi etc its nothing personal in anyway against anyone just my opinion ....... and along the way if some of these guys post some good mods like the cupra lip then praise to them cos i wouldnt of known about it .... thats whats great about asn ...

Fist pic of car, love the car, love the colour, still not sure about those alloys !!!!!!

I was unsure of the wheels in pics but as said before, the pics dont do them justice.

If you really dont like them that much i bet you could get a very good price for them with the tyres.
Id be interested to see what the car would look like with some big pimped up wheels on.

Hello, couple of pics below - no doubt in my mind that the badge enhances the grill.

http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww89/northernsoul09/P4140035-2.jpg

It's a tricky little ****** to get on mind...

Slide 1 clip in at a time into the back of the horizontal slat either side of the vertical slat. Try and get the spacing right first time as trying to move them once
on is a nightmare and is likely to scuff the slat. Suggest you put one clip in then measure against where the badge fits to get the other side right.

Push the badge hooks into the clips..one side at a time is easier...once it clicks your in ! Now do the other side and job done...!

You will need to push pretty hard to get the clips in so don't be shy..

Good luck !

That looks so much better. Keep wondering if I should buy one for my old mans white S-line and put it on when he's not looking and see if he likes it...

Yes, i chenged the wheels. Orginal RS4 alloys are 7x18", these are 8.5x18".. And the dish looks a bit nicer than the original alloys.

Have you changed the wheels? they have a much nicer dish than the standard A3 RS4 alloys!

Thanks :) Will try to install my badge tomorrow :)

Monza Silver Black Edition in the delivery bay - looks brilliant. Very happy man........

Dear all

I picked up my A3 black Edition two weeks ago

Finally got it dirty and noticed something odd on the front lowser grill

The lower left hand vent next to the fog light is solid infilled

However...

The lower right hand vent next to the fog light was open

Went to Audi Service, they didnt really know what to say, but claimed to was for the intercooler... Hmmmm :ermm:

Could my fellow Black Edition owners have a walk to the drive and see if thiers is like mine, or solid infilled throughout and let me know? :icon_thumright:

Cheers

Ho bizarre, ive just looked and mine is the same. first thought would be air intake but that is a lot higher up in the grill but on the same side as the open fog grill.

What spec is yours fella?

The intercooler on A3's is a massive rad shaped design it is almost the same size as the coolant rad. The open slats on the grille would only benefit the car if it had a side mount intercooler. There must be some other reason as to why the grille is open.

Its the 2.0T FSI

One dealer said its engine dependant and the new A4's with T FSI's have an opening on one side and not the other.

Cheers

Hey all! Just joined tha audi sport forums....
Today I spoke with my dealer and at last they told me that my car has been shipped from Germany and should be arriving in the UK on Monday.

Hopefully I'll be driving it by the end of next week.

I ordered the 1.8 TFSI Black edition in white. I am a big fun of the black colour, but, owning already a black car, I know how bad it looks when is dirty or it starts getting chips and scratches.

I will be taking some photos of it once it is here and hopefully I will be uploading them.
I've seen some beatiful pictures in the thread already and I can't w8 to look at it in real life. I have only seen a white s-line near where I leave but no more.

Take care all!!! I am so excited...:yahoo:

Car arrives on thursday..... Wohoooooo...... All this stuff in the garage can finally find its home on the new car.Pics up before and after on Thursday night or friday...Booked two days off to get all the mods done. Bring it on!..

A few pictures of my new A3 :)
I just did my first 930 miles / 1500 KMs and I can now enjoy the car at its full :)

Looking good - is that sensor at the side of the front bumper for park assist??

How do you find it?

Hi,

Just wondering if you guys can help,

Ive just took my first step into the audi family with the order of my 1.8TFSI Black Edition which i chose in "Brilliant Black" (especially after seeing all you guys A3's). After quite a conciderable amount of net trawling ive been unable to find a picture of the BE in "Brilliant Black" (the closest ive found is a new S3). Unfortunantly the dealer only had a white one for me to look at, but i was so impressed i ordered as soon as i could. The reason i would like to see the car in brilliant black is ive started to concider changing my order to "monza silver" as i love the way it looks but would like to see if its worth the extra £490.

Essentially could you guys with Brilliant black/Monza silver A£ BE's throw so good quality images my way?

Also on a side note, does anyone know if the window tints are removable?

Thanks for your Help.

Nick

Hi

Good choice in car, congrats. Mine arrives in about twenty minutes from Milton Keynes, I will get some pics up for you then. If you go to the middle of this thread you will see a black ed already on here in black. Tints are not removable and you cant order the car without them.

You should also have a few pics of the car in monza silver on this thread, just go through each page. Not a fan myself imo, looks better in Black or White.

Hope that helps:shrug:

Looks good, what made you go for the 1.8 over the 2.0?
2 litre was starting getting out of my budget. Also it adds up to the ongoing costs (Fuel, Tax etc...) so I went with the 1.8 which is not bad.

Looking good - is that sensor at the side of the front bumper for park assist??

Yes the holes on the the front bumper are the parking sensors. I still haven't tried the park assist (I thought it would be the first thing I would try but ...)
I am just using the front sensors for maneuvering and they are really helpfull.

I am just dissapointed because I was expecting the parking system in conjuction with the MMI to display the distances graphically on the screen but instead it is only acoustical.

I just wanted to give a warning for anyone considering to install USB or ipod module. They do work, but they do not display the song titles neither have a great integration.
If you have more questions on how they work let me know.

Take care all.

I will disagree slightly, as if you want you can order the car without the tinted windows. When you get a new car that is not already in stock you can almost do anything you like with the car customisation as long as you pay the extras.
At the end of the day that's the beauty of buying a new car.

Ok, I was told at the dealers via Cambridge and Norwich that it couldnt be done,:wtf: plus I then went to a broker who tried numerous dealers and couldnt get me one without. So I'd be interested in who quoted that you could have this done. Are you sure it was the black edition? and not a standard Sline spec?. Mine was ordered with a 12 week build/delivery so I can know for a fact it wasnt a stock item.. Can you let me know which dealership as I would like to speak to them.

Thanks

Hastie

Got to agree with you Hastie1776 on this issue:thumbsup:

You cannot change the "Standard Spec" of the Black Edition. i.e order without Privacy Glass:no: The rules apply to the Black Edition regarding the Audi Exclusive programme too. Basically what you see is what you get. You can change wheel and inlay colours/type and specify certain factory fitted options, but changing the basic specification of the A3 Black Edition, which includes Privacy Glass is a no no!

Well my Black Edition somehow came with standard alloys "as the dealer missed the code off the order" (which I must stress have now been replaced) - work that one out? :p

Hmmm I get your point, and although I haven't requested specifically for the black window tint to be removed I can't think why they wouldn't do it. I asked them to have them brushed alluminium inlays instead of the piano black and they did that for me so I assume that it is the same for everything. In fact the sales guy told me that as long as it is a standard option instead of an additional custom option anything can be done.

Anyway. I got mine from Audi Southampton, so give them a call if you want and they should hopefully give you an answer and then let me know as well.

I would really wanna know if they don't do it, what's the reason.

Hastie have you got yours yet, did you place the order? The black window tint is not bad at all. It keeps your car cool in the summer and it also keeps the annoying ultra bright lights of other cars so you don't need to adjust your mirror.

Enjoy!

Thanks.

On the Window tint issues, i dropped into my local Audi dealer (Warrington) to change my black editions paint from brilliant black to phantom black and brought up the issue of removing the tints. I was given the following answer...

"Unfortunately the tints cannot be removed as they are not a film based tint"

and when asked about ordering without...

"The S-Line black Edition cannot be specified without the black privacy glass"

Not sure about the not being able to remove, ill have to see what a tint specalist says.

Oh well, roll on August when i get mine!

Cant wait!

Yep, got mine on Thursday, love it!, I have changed the grill, mirrors and pedals for the s3 versions and added a rnse with chrome bottons. The sound is ace and drives far better than my last 1.8T avant sline. Very very pleased with it however the black is a git to keep clean. Its been cleaned three times since thursday!!
