I have a B7 1.9 PD115. I have a tunit, tuning box and K and N panel filter and has made 150.5 bhp and 270lb/ft torque which is, I think is impressive for the mods! I have a FMIC to pipe up but is pointless without a boost increase. How much can it safetly be increased by and how? Also what boost. Does it run as standard? My tuning box only increases fuel pressure

I'm having issues as my boost is high at the moment, 20psi @ max and the ECU don't like it and puts it in to limp mode.

If i were u i'd invest in a proper re-map, this will sort out boost issues and do the lot properly.

And upping boost on stock turbo is not a great idea as it's been designed to work at a specific range, take it out of that range it becomes less efficient, for you the 150pd upgrade parts, ie injectors, turbo, and the FMIC and then get a custom re-map.

Try www.tdisport.co.uk, it's a good tuning forum, i'm on there, some knowledgeable stuff and tdiclub.com

Why do you think you need to increase boost to justify fitting a FMIC ? Fitting a FMIC is only going to keep your inlet temps down not make more power etc.

To increase power!A small Boost increase will increase power! More boost means a more efficient intercooler to drop ACT's! I didn't want a smart **** post, I asked for answers. I'm guessing you don't know them so go be smart somewhere else!

:applaus: Sorry i don`t argue with idiots and my post wasn`t a smart *** one.

Only if you have the fueling to match!

A tuning box is a pretty naff tuning toy, it's only suitable as a cheap way to get a bit more power from a standard engine, and works well, but is in no way a tool to use for major power increase, as it's very crude!

Diesels run lean as standard from the factory for emmisions, altering the amount of fuel going in ie richening it give more power but more smoke usually.

Increasing boost will not work atall as the ECU has preset overboost settings and the car will go in to limp mode.

Don't go messing with things u don't understand, I've been there and done it.

Also the standard ECU is set up for stock intercooler, I have a feeling the new one on mine is less re-strictive and therefore running slightly higherboost after int, and the ECU don't like it atall, makes motorway driving impossible at speed as it goes in to limp mode.

I think you mis-read devomikeyboy's post, he wasn't being funny with you, he just asked a question and gave you some info, that's what the forum's for. If you've ever read the Audi Driver review on his car, you would know he know's a lot about tuning diesels. I think it's in his sig, if you're interested.

Anyway, I think evomaster3000 has answered your questions now.

Peace!

You don't need to increase boost just because you fit a FMIC. The better efficiency you should get from a FMIC will give you more power anyway due to cooler air and better flow. Obviously increasing boost will give you even more power, but it's not necessary.

Loose the cockyness, it doesn't suit you!
