From build date to delivery for my S3 Sportback was just over 4 weeks.

The wait is a killer :Flush:

I have finally got my car and the pictures really dont do it any justice. This car looks awsome !!!!

Really wouldnt change any thing. I have got the 170tdi quattro and its serious fun.

Really Pleased with it. :blackrs4:
So right about the pics...the privacy glass looks much darker in them for a start when the reality is they are actually a little lighter...

The wheels also look a hundred times better in the flesh, nearly every single person who's seen the car has commented on them.

Yeah true.

With regards to the build date i ordered mine at the start of feb and picked mine up start of april.

I will put some pic's up when i get time

Ordered my Black Ed 170 Sportback - S-tronic in Ibis White last week, although through my contact I have now found that they have a 2010 build. no cosmetic changes, however they do have made some changes to the extas, ie a new Bluetooth Phone option, and an AMI which is an enhancement to the Ipod dock whereby it displays the title of track etc on the DIS. So I am going to cancel my original order and get these added as it only delays it by about a week. You can see these additional options on the Audi website.

Test drove the 170bhp S-tronic the other day, much quicker and smoother than my VW Golf 140bhp DSG.

Hello from Norway!:hi:

Here is my 2009 A3 Sportback s-line Black Editon (2.0TDI S-tronic 170BHP)

Waiting for my 8,5x18" RS4II in Gun Metal to arrive from Los Angeles, can`t wait to put the wheels on!
Have also ordered S-line badge for the grill, just hoping i ordered the right one..

Removed the A3 & 2.0TDI badges from the hatch a week ago.

Why didnt it come with the titanium wheels that come as standard with the black edition??? Looks nice though...

Seems the new ami option is only available in conjunction with dvd sat nav? the price of the ipod dock seems to have gone up to £175 also?

yes I have just this minute had confirmed that you need the DVD Nav to have the AMI option, not sure why as it says it will also display on the DIS ? plus the price of the A3 Black Edition is going up by approx £400 this month

that is soooo nice mate really but when i give my opinion i dont mean to upset,,, just give opinion and your car with some 19 inch alloys in black satin black,,, you got the area owned chicks and everything... everyone will be checking it out like **** nice audi that,,,, do you wana swap cars

Do you have any possibility to post some pictures?? And a QUICK DIY? :)

Thanks all for the positive comments.

Re the S-Line grill badge - SUCCESS:yahoo:Mega fidgety but managed to get both clips in and it appears to be solid....word of warning to anyone else trying it - Good chance you will scuff the inner slats trying to get the
clips lined up - If you succeed in getting the badge on though you can't see anything so all good :o.k: Defo looks better.

Big thanks to CIGOONER and FRENCHY2475 for the valuable input on this.

Pic to follow if anyone interested.

Cheers mate, would like some 19's but think I'm just going to lower it for now. As for the swap, no thanks lol!

i agree with welsh i love the black edition but the alloys are a nice colour yeah but are so bog standard theres no curve to the alloys or anything there just flat i would definatly upgrade the alloys to 19inch

LOOKING TO ORDER A 59 PLATE CAR IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS . HAD MY EYE ON THE NEW GOLF GTI BUT SHOCKED AT LEVEL OF SPEC AND PRICE.
SEEN AN A3 BLACK EDITION IN AUDI SHOWROOM LOOKS BETTER THAN THE GTI AND BETTER SPEC LEVEL FOR THE PRICE ANY ADVICE ON WHICH TO GO FOR .ALSO THINKING OF S TRONIC GEAR BOX ANY PRO,S OR CONS,,,,,CHEERS

Just joined the Black Edition possé-!

5th A3 since summer 2003, safe to say I am hooked on this car. Shame the Ibis Stormtrooper Turbo had to go but (ironically in light of the recent diesel vs petrol debate) it had to go, just plain sick and tired of pumping cash into its thirsty tank.

Ordered up a beautiful Monza Silver Black Edition yesterday morning and collect in two weeks, can't wait!

-2.0 140 TDi (Will get this up to 180bhp as soon as possible via GIAC)
-18" twin spoke graphite alloys
-Half leather/half cloth
-Auto lights
-Auto wipers
-DRLs
-BOSE Sounds system
-Cruise Control
-FB MFSW
-Armrest

All in all an absoloute cracking deal at £20k with only delivery miles (8miles) on the clock-! (Its pre-registered)

That looks good in Monza. The Ibis one looks good too. Black ones are too black

The smokey silver of the Monza coupled with teh graphite wheels and black grill action is a perfect colour matchup.

Moody shades all round - i'm loving it and i haven't even seen it in the flesh yet.

Got so sick of looking at the freakin white car it was unreal-gotta change the menu every so often-!

Eh.......yes lol

Totally over the white - still looks good on the A3 but I got fed up with it

did you get what you want for it cos you were stuck with it for a bit wasnt you .... if so well done

Yeah got a good price for it, just had to hold out. The amount of chancers that phoned up was unbelievable - mostly trade offering paltry sums trying to make a killing on it because it ticked all the boxes. The agression of some of them is alarming in that they harass you saying "your cars not worth what your asking, take my money" and all the rest. A good few times I just phoned them back and said i'd report them to the police - otehr than that there were load of idiots from scamming companies and the like.

In the end there were about 7-8 honest people interested and most of them took too long to hook up loan money - a lot of folk clearly living outwith their means.

In the end the perfect buyer turned up, an A3 enthusiast and it was the easiest sale ever. He knew the value of the car and paid what it was worth.

Hello, couple of pics below - no doubt in my mind that the badge enhances the grill.

http://i708.photobucket.com/albums/ww89/northernsoul09/P4140035-2.jpg

It's a tricky little ****** to get on mind...

Slide 1 clip in at a time into the back of the horizontal slat either side of the vertical slat. Try and get the spacing right first time as trying to move them once
on is a nightmare and is likely to scuff the slat. Suggest you put one clip in then measure against where the badge fits to get the other side right.

Push the badge hooks into the clips..one side at a time is easier...once it clicks your in ! Now do the other side and job done...!

You will need to push pretty hard to get the clips in so don't be shy..

Good luck !

Well there you go, thats all thats needed on the facelift, id even say theres no need to put the S3 grill on now....
Good job..

Oh i saw my first BE in black in the show room at the wknd.. The pics really dont do them justice, especially the wheels.

bet it was fustrating at first but you stuck it out and got it sold nice one and yeah the silvers nice i like it better than the white..... im still not sure on the a3 in white i love the s5 in white red leather with the 20 inch rs4s they have on beutifull car and ive seen pearl white range rover sport very nice but i dont think the a3 is luxury or sleek enough to carry that colour off i its for higher marque cars imho......al though the white black edition is pretty nice better front on the 09s ,,,but for are shape sline etc i dont think white suits it

Ordered a white 170.. Waiting.
If i wanted **** loads of power and didnt care about fuel i would have ordered an S3, no dreams of mapping a diesel.
I dont want stupid power and i drive high mileage so need something thats economical thats quick enough and looks the part.
Good point about the diesels being suped up.. I dont see it myself though. If you want the power get something with the power. People buying new cars and over suping them... Warranty, over worked engine etc..why?Maxpower for people with a bit more money.
Dont like **** mods, on here for black edition info and see what interesting lives people live and wind people up about wasting their time and money on **** mods on nice cars.
Im outta here when my car arrives.

bet you dont you love it ....... as for suping up i was thinking about getting mine mapped but not so sure noe cos of the probs people were having with clutches etc as for mods i think there great my car turns whey more heads now than when i first got it ... ive only done suble mods all in all cost a grand with wheels and tires not to much i dont think for the look ive acheived as for spec mine is at the bottom of this post its got everything so my car dosent need anything ...... but once you get your car youle be hanging off your laptop everynight lol.....

Touche.... I seriously do plan on leaving when when i get my car, i do find though that while im checking the BE thread i tend to look at others too, you kind of get drawn in so i see your point there, but this is how i find all this modding **** and dont understand it. Im best not looking or commenting...
Everyone has their own interest and ways to spend there money, i just tend to spend mine on smashing it up, holidays and whores.

Well my build date is this week so hopefully 2 or 3 weeks time, lets see in 2 or 3 weeks, i suppose after this thread ill have to leave with my tail between my legs and set up with another username....:whistle2:
