Hi guys
I have just managed to get my hands on a set of A3 3.2Q brakes.
The discs and pads have had it, I have got some new genuine 345mm discs just need pads.

I understand that Ferodo DS2500 pads are perhaps the best but I can't seem to find reference to them anywhere -

Can anyone (Devonmikeyboy) tell me roughly how much and where I can get them from.

I also want to paint my calipers but unsure what colour to go for Sliver or Black (my car is Red) with the calipers being alloy do I have to use a special primmer on them before painting them?

Thanks guys

Just done mine in a metalic graphite grey :) Looks ace imho.

You can kinda see the colour there...... Fronts look better as there bigger!

Will try and get you some better ones....

I have no idea what the price of those pads would be but if you phone 07976 800775 which is Bill`s mobile number who runs Badger 5 he should be able to sort you out a good price for Ferodo pads.

You dont really need to prime them if im honest buddy, if painted calipers on all the cars ive owned, had them yellow everytime lol

Really easy to do though, wire brush them down, if you want to go smoother gert some sand paper out!

I use hamerite spray paint but any heat resistant paint will work i think

yup, as said below, wirebrush + sand down (if u want to but no nessessary) and then just use heat resistant paint... done it on all my previous cars.

I was thinking this the other day, what color to paint the calipers!
Ive decided on black. Ive got a mauritus blue A3 and BBS LMs to go on :)

I got these 345mm babies on my A3 with the 312 rears - they're ****** awesome and i still find myself braking too early for corners, the car in front etc.

Mine cost around £400 for the front and rears but they were a bit of a bargain and i got mintex pads on them.

Well worth the money and handles my remap with ease...

Took a while to find a set of Calipers - but when I did.

Calipers disc and pads £100 (ebay) discs and pads scrapped
New gen Audi discs pr £80 + £9.99
Gen Audi pads £46
Splash guards (pair) £13
Pipes x2 £14
Halfords brake paint £5.99
Total £269

Result

I didn't go for uprated rears the brake bias will alter the amount of work the fronts do if larger rears are used.
Like Kaz I am finding that I am braking well stopping so much earlier. Just got to get used to them (awesome stopping power when driving hard and at speed) bit difficult when pottering round town and parking she thinks I'm trying to put her through the windscreen on purpose (Not £50 excess)

Oh and about £20 in fuel - still a ****** bargin think you agree - they came of an A3 3.2

On the look out for a 2nd pair of front calipers (345mm) for my dads 4motion now that he has seen mine.

Other VAG motors fitted with 345 mm disc brakes

A3 3.2 & S3
TT 3.2
Eos 2006 - 2008
Passat CC 2006 - 2009
Golf R32 2006 - 2009

Did you not need any sort of caliper carrier or does the 3.2 caliper bolt directly onto original fixing?

O right, I've always thought the 345 mm discs sat on differnt brackets than the onesnob ours. Where did you buy the kit?

calipers ebay
disc ebay
pads, splash guards and hoses local VW Audi specialist
all orginal parts

see parts and price break down in post #17 above

Sounds like you got a deal on them calipers, they look brand new.

i was meant to say 'than the ones on ours' ****** i phone changes the words. so is that new caliper just case of removing all the old stuff and bolting the new discs and calipers on! obviously with the guard and lines! is the traction control and abs affected with the bigger brakes?!

I think I got a real deal on them Ebay and the internet are the way forward. (other Ebay bargins MFSW a1 condtion £12.50 + £10 p&p, Audi phone adapter new 99p + £2.50 p&p and RNSE £369)

Just spent about an hour with wire brush attachment on bench grinder and small wire brush attach on eleccy drill.
Sprayed with Halfords Silver brake paint bargin at £5.99

Thanks - I chuffed with them

Yes just a bolts on direct replacement.
Traction control and abs don't seem affected at all.
