Just had a call of Audi Main Stealers.

If you recall I have had my New S3 SB for the best part of 4 weeks now, it's done 1009 miles and the heated seats are still ****!

I mean they are not worth the money, and I sent it in to be looked at.

The guy on teh phone said this, Hi Sir, we have checked the car and the heated seats are at 34 degrees centigrade on level 6. We also checked it against another new S3 ad it's the same.

I said, how do you know, did you put a thermomitor on it?

He said no we have software we plug in to test it and it says there's nothing wrong.

To which my reply was, I could have told you that! In fact if you looked on the seat there was a print out telling you what temp the module thinks it's at. But did anyone actually sit on the ****** thing and turn it on?

Err no sir, I don't think so.

Right, so you've had my car all day. And you're sending it back with the same report I sent it in with? And with the same problem.

I then put the phone down.............................

I can't believe that the tech guys have actually given up doing any engineering at all and completely rely on the computer. I mean what if the temp sensor is calibrated wrong? the computer will think it's working fine.

I give up.

Fairly typical of how they work at main dealers I'd say

Yeah it the way everything is going, not just with cars!

A mate had a hearing test the other day and was told that he was deaf in his left ear. He told them he could hear ok but they wouldn't listen! It turned out after 3 people were deaf in the same ear they realised the machine was faulty

The clue is in the name

"Techncian" - Someone who can read engine diangnostic software

"Mechanic" - Someone who can repair the fault a technician has told him!

Theres just not enough old school mechanics about who use logical thinking!

Unreal, 1st thing I would of done was sat on it tbh, then check the computer

Have they got heated rears aswell mate cause was just gonna finish of my rear heated wiring soon, but wondering if theres a placement error of the heated element as they are between layers, do they get warm at all?

I mean I left mine on 2 & front seats warmed up & I was like god my **** is warm, doh left them turned on, that was just 2, imagine on 6.

I think some naked driver testing needed, just make sure didnt have curry night before, lol

I just phoned and asked to speak to the head engineer.

Apparantly, there were so many complaints to audi about the temp of the seats in that they have had a buletin to reduce the temps.

What a level 6 is now, is the same as a level 3 was pre - Nov 2008.

Basically, don't waste your money on heated seats.

I wonder if I can adjust using vegcom?

Yep there *****!

I got told my Traction control light doesn't come on and stay on when randomly as the computer said it has never errored up...

Erm It did you f'wit thats why its in with you.

Grrrrrrrrrr

Eh?

That's something else that really boils my ****, if your heated seats are too hot, you complain to Audi?

Turn them down you fuckwits! :gun2:

Honestly, some people!

lol just got phoned back!!

AUDI: Why did you feel the need to purchase and expensive system like vagcom sir?

ME: Are you really asking me that question, after your teams performance today I'd have thought that was fairly obvious.

AUDI: Fair point. We've contacted Audi tech support to see if we can get approval to adjust your temp on a bespoke basis.

ME: Oh good, because if you don't, I will.

:banghead:

exactly, that is why there are 6 levels. (If i'm honest, i think they're making that bit up about the buletin)

Yeah I have to agree, if the seats are to hot then turn them down, god its not an on/off switch, it has a setting for different levels, cant these thick people work that out or did they think it was the speaker volume dials for left/right, lol

Tossers! The seats in my '06 are WAY too hot on their highest setting for any length of time...when it was -14 here a couple of months ago I'd turn them right up for the first 5 minutes, then use the clearly marked controls to have them at a comfortable level.

Is it me or are people in general getting stupider? Or is technology eliminating people's need to think for themselves?

strange technology is evolving whilst we are devolving... well the general population of people anyhow are turning in2 dicks lol....

audi: why did you buy vagcom
me: cos your thick

Brilliant, lmao made my day, quote of the day to blazin, kudos slick, made me laugh out loud with tea in mouth

lmao I keep reading it & its still as funny as 1st time lol

I have an 09 S3 and my seats on number 6 are plenty hot, as hot if not hotter than the heated seats in my Mrs Tigra Convertible....

Sounds tosh the story about reducing the temprature!

The seats on my '58' S-Line are also very warm on number 6.
I normally have them on setting 4.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again (even though I'll get an ear-bending from h5djr at some point in the thread :icon_thumright:), thank God there are VAG independents out there.

On 2 occasions now I've had faults I had to get investigated elsewhere. Now Audi UK dealers are selling cars like R8's god only knows how they will start to put those right if they play up with intermittent issues - I have next to no confidence in the service functions of Audi UK dealers at all. If their service wasn't layered with such a thick veneer of arrogance and aloofness it wouldn't be quite so painful to bare.

Couldnt agree more, its not service so much, the sales people are just unreal stuck up *****, really are, but I find as I've got to know nearly all the dealerships staff its got better, but for sales, a little to little to late, gave them 3 chances on new cars since 01 & not once have they been helpful, not once, but tbh some independents arent exactly bulletproof mate, they're just as bad to, its the main reason for sticking my head into the manual etc more these days, just cant trust many of the tbh.

Interesting because I actually commented to the wife the other day that I wasn't very impressed with the heated seats, could comfortably drive around on setting 6 whereas setting 3 in my BMW makes you think you have peed yourself.

TBH I don't use them that often so not going to worry about it although very frustrating its so simple to operate can't believe what folk will complain about these days....

ive said it once and said it a thousand times
audi great cars
audi garages and salesmen are arrogent tw&ts that much its made me never want to deal with audi direcly ever again im goin bmw next

Good service is getting harder to find.

I can't rate the following independents highly enough:

Stealth Racing (Southam, Oxfordshire)
Awesome GTi (Manchester)
Fontain (Bucks)

I hear good things about:

Dialynx Audi (Swindon)
AmD (Now Essex - used to be Bicester , Oxon)
JKM (Portsmouth)
Owen Developments (Abingdon, South Oxfordshire)
DPM (Not sure where they are, but have a feeling it's North Midlands way)

Once my car tips out of 3 years, if I keep it one of the above will be giving it special loving. I'd rather take a residual hit without Audi stamps knowing at least the car ran right when I owned it.

Awesome GTi (Manchester)
Fontain (Bucks)
QST

AmD (Now Essex - used to be Bicester , Oxon)

AMD Surrey - Simon
DPM (Not sure where they are, but have a feeling it's North Midlands way)

Ones in red wouldnt touch with a barge pole, Fontain are basically an audi dealership interms of arrogance & I'm not the 1st & only to say this, Awesome, well last time I had a pop about them they pressured mods to stand up & say something, cant take critiscism & QST, well he maybe knowledgable & good but arrogance is something I dont need to deal with.

Ones in Black are people have heard nothing but good but not dealt with direct, but Shaun portrays as a good bloke, professionally run & very approachable.

Ones in Blue well I have dealt with, Simon for years & Damian on several occassions & I really cant find fault at all with them, they really are what I call 1st class in all departments, service & tbh politeness with experience & knowledge without one hint of arrogance, not one, which to me shows the kinda person/company they are.

Look I have some knowledge, not as much as these guys in some departments if not all, but I dont see why people should be so snotty & look at me in a you're kinda thick really attitude, not on at all.

I mean really if they want our money they know how not to get it some of these guys huh, which is why I buy aftermarket from very limited number of people & audi parts from audi direct cause the parts guys I use are 2nd to none, they are so polite & even though for years I've told Mitch@brighton & the others to call me by my 1st name(on most days Nigel) he still calls me Mr H, that to me shows respect & tbh consideration for someone wanting to give you there money, I dont go for P's & Q's at all & hate being called sir, but if they want to do that then who am I to stop them, but you get the just.

Doesnt hurt to be polite & make a call back.

I had my S3 MTM mapped by QST initially (at the best part of a grand with 198 miles on the clock!), and whilst Kim is a pleasant enough guy, I couldn't really stomach some of their prices on an ongoing basis. I know MTM are good, but the map on the S3 did nothing for me at all, so I took it for Revo after about 3 months and their solution was far better for my personal requirements.

I've always got on very well with Andy and Sarah at Awesome, so have nothing but praise for them. They do good deals from time to time, and I'm leaning towards APR for future kit.

I have a few mates with RS4's and they swear by Fontain, so I'm really interested to hear your feedback as I was likely to use them as my service agent post 3 years. Maybe I'll use Dialynx or JKM instead as they are fairly local. Keith at Dialynx once loaded some revision code on my Leon Cupra R, and I got the feeling he would rather not be dirtying his hands on a SEAT, but to be fair it was a no money job for him, just a new version of code to upload on behalf of Revo.

I think I'm going to have to buy VAGCOM at some point this year based on the comments above.

i agree with that, exept the bmw part they are the same fcuks :ermm:

no one has asked the obvious question reading through this thread...

Can we just check, you aren't wearing extra thick trousers and pants are you?

If level 6 isn't uncomfortably hot, then its deffo not right! Im sure it can be changed using vag.com...

health and safety on *** warmers... whatever next!

I have had work done on my S3 at Awesome and thought they were excellent.

I have used AMD several times, ALWAYS good to deal with!

QST are expensive, and I agree! I can't see why either!

if u work in a dealership, whatever network, there is a very good chance you have a 'god' complex when it comes to cars, even though 9/10 they know less then us mere mortals!

If you think it gets better buying other brands of cars (except possibly Skoda) think AGAIN! they are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

Yeah they're mapping & any charges from them are stupidly high, my 1st map was with Simon who was one of the 1st Revo dealers around back then & it cost me just under £500 & the difference was unreal mate, gave me a free test for 5 hours, 5 mins after driving of with test time, rang him back see you tomorrow for permanent map, lol, this was some years ago & service was as good as today, but QST, already stated my points on them, never use again, but to say he's pleasant well if he knew you were handing over that much then guess anyone would be, lmao.

I've also dealt with awesome before & it was initially great, but biggest thing that let me down & tbh a good mate with an 8P S3 which made him go somewhere else with his £2k were parts, calls back, email replies, I mean it was 6 months ago I was asking about parts for my car, not one comeback, so I went to DPM & havnt looked back mate, it wasnt the 1st time this happened with them either, but i gave them benefit of doubt based on previous purchases, I hope they've now taken this onboard & rectified this issue.

I can only advise on my experience of Fontain, I went to them wanted car with 20k cash or so, said liked that one please give me some more info, said they would let me know asap, didnt hear a thing back, not only person to say this, even before this had same experience with no replies & I have dealt with them on my S3 a while back, its all about the money for them, thats all, I mean if they sold the car why didnt they comeback with an alternative as they had others I liked.

Why not checkout Simon@ AMD Surrey in Woking, I can velch for him.

& interms of buying vagcom, should of done it ages ago mate, best investment for any VAG car, helps you to suss out the rip of merchant dealers & independents to a degree aswell cause can do logs before taking in & if they now say a fault you can say yeah, only since you touched it.

Like I said this is only my experiences & yours maybe different, but think its primarily down to how much you spend with some of these people, Simon I might add I dont spend alot with at all, but everytime I speak with him he's always willing to help/advise, he's even said he'd come over to Italy when I move to map my cars there when bought, lol, cool huh.

I bought my S3 from Fontain.

They did have a `aloofness` about them and wouldnt discount the car a single penny.
But as it was well priced (around private money) with the right spec etc, I deposited the car over the phone and travelled from Newcastle to collect it.
It was frustrating not recieving any discount at all however they had a car at the right price with lots of interest so why discount it?

I suppose some would just call some may just call it good business.

Got the impression that they had a good service set up and are mod friendly as they offer cars with REVO.

cheers
paul

I thought I recognised that white wall in your avatar

Don't quite get this thread - are people saying the heated seats aren't hot enough on setting 6 ?
If so your buttocks must be made of asbestos. How hot do you want your anus to be ?!

Second thing - independent garages for me are a must. Dealers just don't do it. I've heard good things about Awesome but when I phoned them for a quote for an exhaust last year the lad who answered the phone and dealt with my call told me that "the Mk III S3 is basically the same car as the Golf Mk 4 so the exhaust won't be a problem" at which point I lost a lot of confidence. That is wrong on so many levels.

AmD is 240-odd miles from me and I always go there for modifications. Nuff said really. For servicing Votex were excellent. I would never let a dealer work on my car.

if as they say it was a bulletin note from audi (I still think they are talking sh*t)

There must be a way of changing the temp settings via vagcom. Which I quite rightly paid alot of money for. Does anyone know how?

that my friend is the whole point of the thread. on level 6 my new s3 is only mildly warm. And the stealer have told me it is because of a bulletin to reduce the temp of seats in audi's as they have recieved complaints about the extreme tmps.
