I'm helping my mate fit a Forge DV to his Ed30 tomorrow - so the location is at the front of the engine.

The instructions which come with it are for the Golf GTi - where the DV is at the back of the engine near the turbo - so I need a few tips. Anything you can suggest will be gratefully received but in particular I have these questions:

1. What is the best place for the solenoid bracket to be fixed ?
2. Do we need to grease the DV unit before installing it or just put it on as it comes ?
3. Does it matter how long the hoses from the DV to the solenoid are ?
4. Do Forge instructions exist for installing these to Ed30s or are you supposed to just "wing" it ?

Anything else you can advise would be great. Thank you.

warrencox wrote up an excellent tutorial.

First thing I would say is why not try the new revision H OEM DV (part # 06H 145 710 D)? It's much simpler and the car stays "stock".

Secondly, and they don't tell you with the Forge instructions, if the car has been chipped, you need an upgraded (yellow) spring. There's also a service kit you can get from Forge which has an anodised 'plunger'. This apparently works better than the one they send out initially. Both the spring and the plunger are easy to fit afterwards.

Let us know how you get on

Got any more details on this?

we were recently working on a few new vehicles and discovered another rolling change VW/Audi has made. Apparently they have upgraded the Diverter Valve, again, to the new part below. It looks pretty solid from what we can tell and the spring included feels a bit stronger as well. The new part number is 06H 145 710 D. We've seen little to no problems with the OEM G valve, however we'll be testing this new OEM part with all our setups.
From looking at ETKA it appears this new valve will come standard on all 2.0T's from now on so there may be a few people out there with this part already!
I just want to point out, we are not selling this part or keeping an inventory of them so I'm sorry, I can't sell you any. If anyone wants to pick one up, check with your local VW parts department to see if they have began stocking the part! Looks like this is going to be a cheap solution for everyone running the early 2.0T DV's!
