Should be getting the new S3 this week, the only thing I could criticise on my test drive/morning was the brakes after having 6 pot brembos on both my last cars so just wondered what is the best upgrade available for around £1,500 ?

Well talk to S3 Big Andy as his RS4 brakes had think cracking on the discs so slightly disturbing given costs huh

while they are good on the RS4, I have had to take them back to a dealer several times due to vibrations on braking, they have needed cleaning and have also been replaced after the 4th visit, awesome stopping power, poor design I would say

What colour etc. did you get?

I've gone for a totally standard car in white, looked the buisiness in the showroom and from past experience I have learn't not to raid the options list a you never get it back.

I plan to retro-fit sat nav when I locate a unit.

Upgrades planned are..

Map
Full Miltek
H&R ARB's.

Thats it.

The RS4 items are the same as used in the Gallardo GT cars I'm realibaly informed.... good tried and trusted unit.
Since yours were replaced Klauster - have you had any issues, or was it possibly a defect on the original brakes?

Is this to replace the 335D - How are you getting on with it?

Oh my god no, I love the 335D and that car is going nowhere in the short term, it's a fantastic mile muncher and a real torque monster.

I'm replacing the 130i 3 door as I need the extra doors to make life easier with our 2 year old daughter.

I feel quite excited and think the 2 cars both offer something completely different.

my car is now 2.5 weeks and 800 miles in,

my brakes were absolute bibbins for the first 500 miles, actually it didn't drive that well either. But they get MUCH better. MUUUUCH better.

Nearly snapped my wifes neck off doing an emergancy stop the other day!!

I'd wait till you're sure you need too spend the money.

Yes thats the new plan, I think the issue was I test drove an S3 last week straight after getting out of a BMW performance BBK equipped car so the brakes felt weak in comparison, been running around in an A3 1.9tdi this week so I have had time to adjust.

I am a big fan of good brakes so time will tell, the ECS package looks good but I have now committed the available fund to a full miltek, remap and H&R ARB's all going on before the end of April.

So excited about getting a new car I can hardly sleep !!

I've had my S3 for two months now and the brakes are excellent. Unless you plan to take your S3 onto a track regulary (or increase the power) I can't see why on earth you'd feel the need to upgrade them.

The answer is yes to both, car will be remapped immediatley and I do approx 5/6 track days per year.

AP Racing.

I would say they're at least in the same league as Brembo, and having had a set of these on a road-legal GpN Escort Cosworth with ALS,water injection etc,I can vouch for the stopping ability and complete lack of fade.
They require a pretty strong foot, but will not let you down.

An alternative, which I think one or two others here have done is to use a different pad material, either from Ferodo or Pagid, although the latter are often a bit more track oriented and require quite high temperatures to really give you some bite.
