"Beaten" by a Saxo and Fiesta Flame

I'm sure i read something about the cars in the third movie having real mods. The SR26DETT powered mustang for instance was a real car they had built for the movie.

Not sure about the other films though.

Theres a fourth film in production just now, due out next month:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1013752/

I'd like some old american muscle, but it would need some modern touches. New decent suspension system all round instead of cart springs, nice 6speed box, etc.
Perhaps an LS2 or something like the 6.3L V8 from the Merc C63 to round things off :) Unfortunately that would be an easy way to sink about 50 grand into a car, so it wont be happening any time soon :p

The third film, Tokyo drift was suprisingly good. Can't quite remember why the put the SR26 into a 'Stang and not a driftmungous 180sx / Fairlady, but hey ho.

My favourite modified car used in a film was undoubtably the pair of Merc 500Es used in the original Taxi, where they chased a taxi which was a disguised 406 Touring Car. In a few places you can hear a supercharger whining away as well as the big V8s of the Mercs. Awesome

i think his dad had the half finished stang with no engine, he was broke, and they had the skyline motor (which is an RB26DETT it would seem) from some other totalled car laying around somewhere.

Been a while since i've watched it but it was something like that anyways

Mad Max is also the shizz!

Cant beat the last of the V8 Interceptors.

I'm not quite sure i get the link between them though, first movie it was just a family off out for a nice drive and getting accosted by the evil bikers.

The rest of them suddenly turns into some post-apocalypse desert weirdness.

Not sure about Sam's reasons for getting a V6, but I got mine for 2 main reasons:

Torque
Sound of a V6.

Yes, the 1,8T is more tuneable with less money, but a larger capacity engine has more tuning potential, just need to spend more to extract extra.

Extracting the extra and paying the price isn't an issue with me, if I couldn't afford it, then yes, I'd have gritted my teeth, and bought the smaller I4 turbo.

I got a V6 for nearly the same reasons;

1. Love the thought of having a V6
2. Love the sound
3. Couldn't insure 1.8T (only 18 with 1 NCB)
4. Smoother engine
5. Big supporter of the saying "No substitute for cubic inches"!

Thinking about it, I'd love the Tune ability of a 1.8T, but then I am only 18 and planning to be able to buy and insure an s4 or rs4 B5 by the time i'm 21. Nthat would be cool!! Gotta get saving!!:weight_lift2:

i dont think the 1.8T would be any harder to insure than the V6 tbh, especially when the V6 makes more power.

When the missus insured the A4, they somehow managed to pick up the reg plate as being a 1.8 Avant rather than a 1.8T Sport Avant. Dawn called them up to correct it, and after about 20mins on the phone the guy finally found the correct model and the premium only increased from 520ish to 600.

Well, it is, just because it has a turbo i think. Insurance companies make no sence, with pricing and what they will insure, to me. I was amazed my self that they'd insure me on a 2.4. Only £830 as well! Fully comp. I know it's a lot, but consider my rover 214 would have been £700 for the same cover. oh well. (this is norwich union) lots of other companies (inc. Adrian Flux, who are meant to be good) were throwing quotes of £6k for 1.8t and £5k for mine. HAHA!:keule:

a 6k quote basically says "we dont actually want to insure you"

A lot of companies set bands based on the cars group.

So for example they might not insure anyone under 21 on a car over group 15, they just dont like saying "sorry we cant cover you" on the phone, so instead they just issue a stupid quote.

The 2.4, 2.6 and 1.8T are all group 15 cars, so its odd that there is any big differences between them in price.

Oh well, one great advantage of being older.

My premium on Outlaw, even with an agreed value policy and all body mods declared, is still under £360.

I've got a Zetec-S and a B5 1.8t.

If the Zetec-S was back together I'd pick that every time :) great fun.

B5 is comfy though, but so slow.

I personally think the A4 makes a great all rounder with the right mods.

Having done the whole hot hatch thing, i went from a 1600 16v Nova to a 1.4 Astra and while it was dog slow, i discovered that the addition of some koni dampers and lowering springs and a decent set of rims and tyres it was actually just as much fun up the twisties, albeit a little lacking in power, however it was far more comfortable which made it a better car to drive.

The A4 with some choice suspension mods, good tyres, and a power boost, in my view, gives a car that can be just as fun as a little hot hatch up the backroads, yet comfortable and solid when just tootling around, and all the creature comforts you could ever want!

Very true! From what i've found with my car, it's great with the new springs, handles like a dream. to me anyway. great fun, with enough power to play with. yet if you just want to poodle around, its awesome still!:whistle2:

yeah defo true, I've got bigger injectors and chipped my 98 tdi a4 and got some decent shocks/springs and its brilliant fun with enough grunt to pull it through the twisties, I actaully beat a mk3 gti on the dual the other night (mind you they are heavy and gutless lol) he didnt look too impressed!!

Sorry but having dabbled with hot hatches for many many years and still owning a couple the Audi is I'm afraid to say poor in the company it keeps. Don't get me wrong, I love my A4 to bits and wouldn't be without it but so many things run rings round it as it's a bit of an understeery old barge in large down to the fact as to where Audi hang the ****** engine. The trackday I did in Feb in mine really showed up quite a few issues.

Mk3 Golf GTi is slow as ****, I know, I have one (for the wife)

I did get the audi after a t5 volvo estate so was impressed with the handling lol

pmsl, I also couldn't be without my shonky Ford, love it to bits despite the cash it's eaten over the years. My mates all laugh and say how they'll put handle on it and bury me in it. lol

Yesterday my brother took my S4 for a driver and he loss a race with Ford Focus ST 2008 :) I couldn't believe it :)

ST 221 BHP 0-60 6.5 Sec
S4 265 BHP 0-60 5.5 Sec

I think most of times it dose depence on the driver too

ST might have been chipped i guess, and they are lighter...

S4 is quicker on paper, but not by much, so a bit off a fluffed start or being slightly off the ball could be enough to give the ST the advantage.

Most of the "transmission losses" come from the tyres, not the diff/gears etc. The huge increase in "transmission loss" on a 4wd car on a dyno is because your now measuring all 4 tyres instead of only two.

Just imagine how much heat would be generated in the gearset if you were losing 20-30hp thru some cogs, not to mention the wear that much friction would cause...

You might be right maybe it was chipped :( but it didn't had that much difference S4 was right into has *** :rockwoot:
