does anyone know if the stainless exhaust tips that audi do will fit on a 06 2.0tdi s-line. my current exhaust has the down turned pipes but wanted to get the stainless straight ones for my a3.

When i fitted mine the audi part number was ZGB8P0071902
Mine is a 2004 2.0 derv (same exhaust as yours)
The pipes in the above post are the exact ones I bought. The price is also very cheap

There are two welds on each pipe which removes the old trims as shown below. I also cut the ends of the tailpipes square so that when you look from the back you don't see the old pipes as much in the middle, One other thing i did was put plenty of silver grease around the screws to stop them corroding..

mattandrew: Can I ask what you used for the cutting?
I used an angle grinder at work, a dremel will do the same job

What's the best way to break the welds that hold the outer pipe covers in place. Good old brute force?

I have a 140 with the down swept non stainless exhaust, like you see on most 140s. So does my exhaust have tail pipe covers already?
There is no chrome or anything, just two down swept pipes.
Can you get chrome tail pipes which fit over these and point straight out the back and not down?

ALTDi your pipes, the ones that point down are covers as you say... these little black bits are cut off and replaced with the chrome ones.

Hi, I've just fitted this at the weekend.I got these from stafford audi (ZGB8P0071902) it took me about 30 mins to cut off the covers and fit these.I think they should of been fitted at the factory on the s-line models,It just finshish the car off...

Hi mate, I used a dremel to cut into the weld and then used a flat screwdriver behind the chrome covers to force them off the tailpipe. You need abit of force but watch your knuckles.

I bought some of these from stafford Audi too! I'm going to have a look at fitting them this weekend, Michael, yours look a bit too far back, are they flush with the valance?
Hi mate, They stick out about 8mm from the valance,It's just how i wanted them to look.

As i said you really need to use a grider, the welds are very strong and its not just a tack weld IIRC its 4 welds about 15mm each but cant remember for sure

Brilliant - just what I've been after - never liked the down turned exhaust - much preferred the facelift tail pipes - bargain price to - I'll get my local friendly mechanic to fit for me as I don't have a dremel or grinder.
Hi guys, I have just got my a3 exhaust finishers, I have taken the existing finishers off, but the new ones supplied by stafford audi from ebay, they dont seem to be fiiting on. They apparantly come with pre set fittings, but I cannot seem to get the bottom fittings on and the exhaust to fit on.
Anyone else had this problem? please help? Can anyone advise me on how I am supposed to fit these?

i fitted mione ok from them mate, once the old trims were off? can you undo the top ones untill it fits?

I had to tighten the top screws about 1/4 of a turn so that the bottom screws weren't floating in the wind, but after that no problem at all and the trims are rock solid on the exhaust.

Weather depending I should hopefully get this done this weekend.
I have my shiny new tips (dispatched v.quickly from Staffordshire) and I have a lend of a Dremel.
Will I get away with the Dremel alone, or am I likely to need a grinder for the welds (one top and one bottom of each pipe I assume)?
How did others get on, what was their approach?

Dremel did it fine for me - both welds are at the bottom, so easy to get to. Once I'd done the welds I found a screwdriver between the exhaust and the trims and then a bit of moving up and down of the trims removed them easily.
the instructions i got from stafford audi, it says the top fittings are preset and do not need to be tightened, but i tried the bottom ones and they dont seem to tighten as the fittings are too short?
