S3: Will this add some power to a standard engine?

The original intake manifold is not a restrictor in any way. (unless you go above 400bhp) Spend your money on other things that add more power.. Like a larger hairblower :arco:

Howdy Keem...

I'm MAYBE going for a hybrid at some point, let's see :whistle2:

Money is beeing spend at a crazy rate atm. I'm finished sourcing parts for the "undercarriage upgrading" (except the Haldex Controller which will have to wait till next winter) so my attention is aimed at the engine now. You honestly don't think this (or the EXTREMELY cheap Dahlbäck Racing..) manifold will give nothing?! Not 1 horsepower more? Not more efficient fuel/air mix? Not even better fuel economy (not that THAT really bothers me)...

Total waste of money then?

They must have a lot of those in stock then since not many 1.8T bursts over 400hp...

even with an APR stage 3 or 3 plus and uprated rods it states "expected gains" emphasis needs to be on the expected.

If i were you, i'd save up for a backdraft 325-kit. thats the most bang for the buck you'll get for the s3 :o.k: And don't even think about the dahlback manifold, very expensive and bad air flow.

If you look at the vwvortex forum, you'll see that there's ALOT of people above 400bhp over the sea  It looks like it's quite common with 450-500bhp :)

True, does say expected. And that's from a Stage III (+)...

Well you're probably right Keem. You seem to be in to these 1.8T way more than I am...Did do some looking at that BackDraft kit...

Could you elaborate on the Dahlbäck piece...will it actually be worse for the engine. They dropped the price to 2000 swedish kroner so I just bought one. What the hell...
Will deffo test it and see what it'll do...if anything it does look better than OEM.
But if it has bad airflow etc. it will hit the littercan in less than 60 seconds :whistle2:

If you take a look at these test results, you'll see that the dahlback manifold has worse air-flow than the stock big port manifold (AEB, AGU etc) and slightly better flow than the stock small port ones..
Look at the best manifold, it flows twice as much as the dahlback intake..

Jeeezz...Why didn't I see that chart before. Well it'll look good haha...

Btw, engine code AMK, does it have the stock small ports?

and the new SEM intake is even better than the 007

Dennis, the AMK is small port yes. And yes the SEM is supposed to be the best intake for the 1.8t.

Thanks Keem. Well it's here so I will fit it anyway...Just for the sake of looks. I'm sure it won't make things worse (referring to the chart it's the same as stock so purely looks then...). Only costs 2100nok incl. all so fair enough for a trial and error...Learning all the time! Btw, I did just send an email to backdraft yesterday and asked for a quote on some kits and fitting. Would be nice to drop off the car there and pick it up fine tuned
