Hello people, i recently bought a pair of genuine facelifts from ebay sold as mint condition. when they arrived one was in good condition but the other was shocking, all the chrome inside has started to peal and go white and there was a lot of dirt inside them too.
so i bought another new headlight from ebay, just a depo branded headlight but that came next day so fanstatic.
fitted the headlights and everything works perfectly. iv opened the headlight i didnt used by heating them in the oven and am going to paint it black and see if it suits my car which is laser red.

I used a bit of asatone and took the old chrome off and the plastic is just white and i was thinking would it suit the A3/S3 with the chrome parts in the headlights being colour coded ie red for mine, white i think would look good for a white car. just an idea?

Hey there. This has always interested me. I was thinking about doing it to mine. But on Ming Blue i'm not so sure.

Be sure to take before, during and after pictures if you are thinking about doing this. I think black would be fantastic on the red!

Sorry but that has got to be the best looking A3 on this site!

iv just sprayed mine satin black, look pretty sweet, im just needing to replace the under bumper with a facelift one with the spotlights now

ummm, not sure, the back doesnt have any of the wiring for the xenon kit. i cant see why the lense or reflectors being any different tho, would b a good base to do the mod rather than rip apart your xenons.

I used the depo headlamp for the rear housing as the adjusters where all broken on the orignal audi on, took them apart and used the original hella lense with the depo rear, worked well and look niiiiiiiice, will put some pix up later today, iv just got to fit the passenger side on now, been driving around for the past couple of days with a black facelift on the drivers side and the pre facelift and seperat indicator on the passenger, looks classy as it is lol

That black looks awesome, its a fantastic diy mod and I'd love to see what a white a3/s3 would look like with the white colour coded lights that were show earlier in this thread :icon_thumright:

I think painting headlights any colour other than black looks a bit tacky. The S3 headlight looks much more agressive and eye-catching when the inside is painted matte black.

This older thread has pics and basic instructions if anyone's interested.
