I went down to AmD Essex on Monday and had my new exhaust and coilovers fitted.

The guys there did a fantastic job as usual, and even stayed back until 7.30 to get the job fitted as they encountered some problems during fitting.

The car drives and looks great now - sorry not had a chance to get any pics yet, but will take some on Sunday when the car is all polished up at Ultimate Dubs.

As the car was running much lower than before - approx 45mm lower than standard S-Line height, the previous wheels were rubbing a bit - 8.5J not ideal on a slammed A3! I'd been toying with changing the rims since I got the car, so off came the LM reps, and on went a set of black edition BBS CH's. I ordered the rims at 2pm on Tuesday from Rimstyle, and they wered delivered 9.30 Wednesday morning. By 11.30 the tyres were swapped over and they were on the car. The car looks a lot moodier with black wheels (car is black), than with the polished LM's, but I'm really happy with the way it looks and drives now. Again apologies for no pics of new rims.

Off to get the back windows tinted in the morning - still undecided if I will like the look, but it's not a lot of cash and the only way to tell is to try it!

On my way back, the car is going into The TT Shop in Bedford to try out their new Hunter 4wd alignment - after that I reckon I'll have spent enough cash this week!

Skint is more like it now!

Will definitely get pics up on Monday, car is really filthy now, so doesn't do it justice.

I was unsure what to do on the tints... as the car is black with black rims, I'm concerned about looking too murdered out - check out http://www.murderedcars.com/ if you're not a gangster - so wanted the tints to look OE. I guess I'll know tomorrow lunchtime if I like it or not!

whats ultimate dubs lika car show or sumut where is it at

Eagerly await the pics :D

Cant wait to see the pics of the Batmobile :)

Whats the general cost of tinting?

Sounds good. Whats the law with tinting the rear windscreen?
Presume "light" tints good.

you can tint em all except your not really meant to do the front winderscreen or left and right fronts but alot of people do and just get darker on the back to blag the cops the fronts are legal but i cant be ***** im just doing it i want it all to look the same not dark to though i think it looks cheep to dark

Those BBS CH's are really a great set of rims! Just look very nice, and still retain that old school dragged into the new school look. You sure have dropped some cash on your car mate, made my lil spending spree the other day look pitiful! :) At least I won't feel so bad getting the rest of the stuff I have planned :sly:

Sorry for the lack of pics... I didn't get a chance to wash the car this weekend, so it's really grubby. If you can see past that though, I've taken a quick pic. It's getting dark now, so that didn't help! It gives you an idea though.

It's clickable for those who want to see a high res image of all the dirt n crap!

I'll wash it one day this week and get some better pics on here, during daylight as well!

Only slight rubbing, and that's more due to the 235's than the suspension - it is catching on a rear bumper bracket, and I know a guy who reckons he can fix that in 20 mins, so will get him to have a go this week! V-Maxx RRP is about £430. And cheers for the positive comments, I'm really pleased with how it's looking now.

Looks great buddy, how low is that?

Not really sure, as didn't have standard springs on before - I reckon about 65mm drop from standard A3 height, so prob 40-45mm drop from standard S-Line height. It's certainly a hell of a lot lower than when it was running on Eibachs.

225 are a thinner profile arnt they just get new tires or are 235s better i need all the advice i can get on this cos im getting my rims soon did you fit the coils yourself looks great anyhow

Only thinner by a few mm - the main difference is they are 10mm narrower.

The tyres are nearly brand new, and were on the car when I bought it. When they need replacing, I will go for 225's, but they'll have to do for now, I've spent plenty on it already!

I'm crap with cars, so didn't fit myself - AmD in Essex fitted them along with the exhaust.

looks great mate im getting eibachs springs this week its all i can afford at the mo 300 ton fitted 19s on the 25th hopefully then il post pics were your eibachs low im getting the 50/40 i think the lowest anyhow what did you think of them i know coils are better just doin springs due to doe at the mo but was it low any rubbing with the eibachs ???....

Looks awesome mate - hows the front spoiler coping with the speedbumps and ramps etc.

Cant wait till my kits on now - :D :D :D

Mine were the regular Eibach's, quoted as something like 30mm. On S-Line, drop is more like 5mm! Should be better with your lower ones. Good springs through, very good quality and ride. I had very little rubbing with these, only if driving quite hard.

Touch wood.... not had any problems yet. Whenever I come to a steep ramp etc. I do take it very slow in case!

Thats looking lovely Pete!!!

Agressive! hmmm

Looks awesome mate.
I like it when the twin grill A3's look as awesome as that!

that looks awesome - this was one the reasons i chose a pre-facelift as the votex kit looks awesome on it imo.

next job on my list is for my kit to go on (yes, im still tip toeing around it in my bedroom) but just blown almost 2k on ICE in my car now so it will probably have to wait till summer but cant wait!

Do let me know how you get on with the front lip and how low the car is, I live next to bleedy longsight which is pothole centrol! lol But want my car to go as low as poss without clipping it on anything!

Whats next on the list then - Id be tempted to tint the front windows similarly to the back but not sure how legal that would be :D

Looks awesome though mate - not just saying that i have similar plans for mine :D

Feedback about V-Maxxx Coilovers? Good Choice? Only Good Price?

Really good choice - the ride and handling are spot on.

I've taken a lot of people out in the car who are surprised to hear it's running coilovers, as they'd expect the ride to be really harsh.

All I hear is people moaning about coilovers :blahblah1::blahblah1::blahblah1::blahblah1:

When they actually go in a car with coilovers they are so suprised

Depends on the coilovers - I've been in cars running H&R, Bilstein etc. in the past and the ride was horrible.

Pete,
How does the Remus compare to the stock system or a Milltek in terms of sound? Is it just a back box or half system or what?

It's just a rear silencer.

The car had a Milltek on it when I bought it. It was non-res but a bit boomy still.

To start with when it was fitted, it was really quiet. Now it's been on a few months it sounds very different - deeper and rumbly - brings out the sound of the V6 without sounding boomy at all.

The Remus is of a far higher quality - it sits really well, and the tailpipe are staggered, so follow the line of the bumper well.
