Hi,

Is it the Auid RS4/RS6's that have the engine start buttons..?

And has anyone fitted one to there Audi yet..?

Cheers

Neil

someones done it on here to their B6 if I mind right, the search button at the top may help you...!! ;)

Yes I did the Start Button as it fits the 8P, I did the wiring & MarcQuinlivan did a very good write up, do search on 8P forum for it, as it fits in the same cubby hole on the B6/7 & 8P & I had it left over from my B6 S4, I installed in my A3

But it is just a case of turn key still & then press start, not keyless if thats what you wnat.

Jase did it also on his b6 avant! Tidy little mod if you dont need you Ciggy Lighter.

Huh, what u mean, I have cig lighter aswell, its part of the kit mate, front part is start button rear part is flip up cig lighter.

Im on about Jase's mod which I mentioned in the same post - Unless Ive missed something!!!

Hi I have the start button and new cig lighter in my B6 A4 now.. MarcQuinlivan install guide was a big help, but the final bit with the ignition barrel is different on his A3 install guide.. Does anybody know (remember) what wires I'd need to use on a B6 Audi ignition..?

Any help would be much appreciated

well u need to meter the barrel & check which is the ignition start feed & then the send power wire to starter for the circuit, its gotta have the same principle so wont be hard to trace at all, when I did the wiring I got my meter out & did exactly this as all it is, is a circuit switched by barrel turning, you are basically using the button as the turning part to create that circuit, 1 wire in 1 wire out, then just run illumination of existing illuminated part like ashtray or cig lighter red ring, not the lighter circuit itself.

Do you have to cut one of the wire's from the igintion and run it to the start button. Rather than splicing the new wires. I'm just presuming this, otherwise the key will work fully and the button as well

Run it in parallel with the ignition key turn start so have both if the start button ever goes faulty, thats how me & Marc did it anyway & no doubt others, its only about 300ma anyway to send start signal, very low current, well on 8P it is.

Yeap exactly as per done, just then takes the other 2 wires of any illumination circuit on buttons, etc

Yep its gone - Still missing it now!...but this Blue one I have is going to be a good-un once Ive got through all the bits I need to do to it. Starting all over again, gives you the Bug again..:arco:

oh right nice one, ive been thinkin ov a change recently dont know what to get though

Your new car looks amazing! I love the colour. Did you put the N75 'J' on your car? Love the bumpers. I would love the S4 bumpers. Just the hassle of having to get them sprayed thats my problem.
