chipped-uk ST-3 group buy

I think its because of how smooth it is you don't quite realise how much quicker it is, it must take half the time to rev out in 2nd, its just that it doesn't launch you back into your seat, it caresses you until you look at the speedo and think damn i better slow down!

I have been very very impressed, just re download them from the email and make sure you name them right haha!

Yeh, just double checking both the files.

Are both of your files exactly the same size @ 1.025 MB ?

Cheers,

FX

Yeah both files are 1MB each. I have today tried the eco map and that is pretty good, did a set run and drove like a granny and got 58mpg whereas on that run i would get about 55mpg but that was just a short run, driving to France on Skiing holiday in a month so will do it on the eco on way down then fast road way back good chance to see the real differance.:o.k:

i went for fast road and race, race is greatttttttttttttt
very impressed well worth the money

The files aren't one that windows recognises so anything under a mb it just rounds up to an exact mb.

The files will all be of identical size just name them as you download them as per the map name.

Damn it! Am i the only 1 not really seeing a major difference. Just went out with my mate from work and he agrees, allthough it is smoother and the turbo whistles a bit more. The power gain is probably 5% at most. I switched between Eco Map and Fast Road and there wasn't much of a difference, especially with the torque, flooring it in 3rd (30mph -60) i wasnt thrown back into my seat!

Edit: I'm considering getting the Revo trial on friday so i can see if there is a real difference.

mines wheel spins in 2nd gear and sometimes 3rd and the traction light it always flickin on and off, how much miles have u done since the map cause mines kicked in after say about 60 miles of drivin

i think the fast road is crap and race is ace, i was tempted to get track

at first i wasn't sure about the gains but put the original back on for a few miles and then i defiantly noticed the difference and i have just kept the fast road on, i haven't even tried eco yet.

Thats weird! Perhaps you had one of the cars that produces a hell of a lot of BHP in standard trim?

Does yours not pull harder all the way to the end of the revs instead of getting out of steam?

Sounds really odd as I can tell a huge difference

EPICFX,

Hi,

Have you VAG-COMed your cor to check for any faults? Or been able to do any logs? You should be able to see a difference with the logs (actual vs requested boost pressure, requested injector duration etc?).

Hopefully when I get round to getting an ST3, I'm going to do some before and after logs of different signals (I'm a sad geek!!).

How's your fueling system? From experience (hesitation/stutter on light throttle) the ECU doesn't log any faults, but I'm wandering if the fuel system (restricted lift pump, fuel filter, tandem pump, leaking injector O-rings) are causing a drop in injection pressure and not allowing enough fuel into the engine. From my understanding diesels are pretty crude in that the amount of fuel (and it's relative boost pressure) is the main contributory factor of power). Maybe checking the fuel pressure (10.5 bar at 4000 RPM) might show a hidden fault that is not allowing your car to make full power?

Hope this helps

Andy

just sent off my standard map to chipped uk, should get my new maps through shortly, will let you all know how i get on..:blackrs4:

I will be in for TWO if the offer price will cover my TT Mk2 2.0T and my wifes mk5 Golf GT TDi 2.0 140 (non DPF). Tried sending them an email to find out if these could be included in the group buy, but had no reply so far? ...anyone know?

let me know if you do hear anything back, i definately want one of these!

why not call chipped uk and see if they want to do another group buy and one of you organize it

you already have 3 names (kinda)

Hi all,

Thought I would post my experiences picked my unit up last Thrday and got chipped UK to load up the maps - fast road and eco. Unfortunately with some spirited driving my clutch started to slip before I hit the motorway ...reset the mpg counter when got on motorway and had a very steady drive home achieving 60.0mpg. I loaded the eco map and since have given it the beans with no slipping on the clutch ...I am a little disapointed as I really liked the fast buy the clutch did not share my enthusiasm it has got 104k on it to be fair and as it started to slip so quickly put it down to tired clutch rather than a map that was too aggresive.

Going to swap maps tomor and try standard again then put it to fast road ....I wonder if chipped uk would "turn down" the torque a little on FR map ?

There is a definate perforamce increase with the eco and done about 500 miles so far .....but damn I could have done with the fast road Monday whilst having some fun with an A6 3.0tdi on M40 .....hhmnn ...keep it safe(ish) on eco or go with it and budget for a replacement clutch ???

If you've got access to VCDS (vag-com) you can get a rough idea what your car is pumping out. You need to log (in my car anyway) Engine Group A Block 20 in VCDS (this has values such as engine speed/min, engine torque etc). Start off at about 1500 rpm in 3rd and then floor it to the red line (on a private road of course). Then using the link below you can create your own 'dyno' plot. That is how the VCDS plot in my signature was created.

clicky (Excel spreadsheet - ignore the references to block 120).

Good luck in getting Chippeduk to email you back, better yet, good luck in trying to get them to Call you back. Their customer service is dreadful.

I'm going to have to drive there and get them to give me the correct map.

Also going to Revo tomorrow to test their free trial to see if it makes a lot of difference.

whats the chances I could have some group buy action, or is it A3 only?

There are now 3 names and 4 cars ...nearly half way there to a "10 for £299 each" - I am sure if you give them a bell they will agree it ....just need 10 names with ASN user id's - they would do any Audi and probably other marques  especially if the user whom owned an Audi wanted to remap his missus car if you see what I mean

Cheers Andy,

I have downloaded the log file from my ChippedUK unit.

It downloaded to a .LPG file, but i have not been able to read it.

Does anyone here have a reader?

Cheers,

Rich

i can confirm this too..i cannot get the maps to upload onto the st3 unit, it keeps coming up with an error message. The unit links with the computer fine and i have the maps stored on my computer, i just cant get them on the damn thing..i called chipped uk and they said send us an email (this was yesterday eve) i did so and have had no reply atall today..prior to buying the unit i was very impressed with the level of customer service i received, since making my purchase it has been poor..im going to have to drive there to get it sorted out at this rate!! im beginning to wish i had just took it somewhere and had a revo or equivelant, abit dissapointed to say the least. hopefully they will sort the problem promptly and prove me wrong..

mate its best to cll them first because they might not do another one and therefore your hard work of finding names might not work.

plus you might want to start a new thread just so it doesn't confuse people

you could call it "st-3 group buy round 2" or somthing just to define it from this 1 and a new 1

thanx good idea! will give them a bell and see what they say,
if its a goer, i will start a new thread!

I'm really tempted to order one of these ST3s (I'd rather not pay full price, but hey-ho).

But I'm a little worried about the support from chipped uk. I have summarised the results of this group buy:

1- Lex – no problems, chippeduk loaded maps, loves it.
2- MPP – no word.
3- epicfx – had trouble with drivers, eventually got it to work but no real difference, is going to get a Revo trial.
4-clarky17 – no problems, race is great!:racer:
5-roscoepeko – no problems, chippeduk loaded maps, loves it but has a slipping clutch.
6-Philipstormy – no problems, has created a monster!
7-Biggiep – no problems, really smooth map, last we heard he was going for a raz without traction control!:respekt:
8-joolsS3 – no word.
9-lance-22 – can’t get maps to load onto ST3
10-GanjaB – no word.

5/10 love it.
2/10 can't get it to work.
3/10 have not replied.

I don't know whether it would be foolish to order one until all 10 are happy!

Any comments?

Hi All,:salute:
I'm visiting from another site http://uk-mkivs.net/ and in the process of organising a group buy for the ST3 remap tool from ChippedUK for the VW owners.

http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/252692/1647400.aspx#1647400

Lexlennox also a member of the Audi-Sport forum suggested that I contact you to see if you wanted to join forces to make up the numbers for another group buy. I have been offered another group buy price of £299 but need to confirm that this is inc. VAT and also numbers required.

Post on this thread or send me a PM if you are interested.
Duke.

Yep.... I will be in for one for my TT MK2 2.0TFSI.

Yeah, I think that will be the way to go, I'm going to give cheppeduk a ring on monday to discuss.

Cheers for your advice.

Andy

I'm interested in this one, does the ST3 system cover my AVJ 1.8T (150) petrol as mist people woth it seem to be black pump users?

Ta

Trust me - Youll have a beast at the end of it with a custom remap!

a member on here has his 2.0TDI pushing 240bhp/340ft lbs on a hybrid turbo :D

With Regards to the group buy, i think if we do it how Lex did it with numbers and names, that should get the group buy rolling.
