My car is in for MOT today and they just rang saying that my MOT is failing on the rear brake discs and pads. He says they can be replaced at 220 quid. Is that a good price or can I get for cheaper???

Audi wesite states Brake pads (Front or Rear) - £99. Also doing free MOT if you register on line.

It's having the free MOT now, the 220 quid is for both the brake discs and pads.

well, quick look at Euro Car parts, £52 + vat for pair of rear discs & £27 + vat for pads. 1.5 hrs labour on top, seems dear to me...

Thats the problem with the free MOT, you feel almost obliged to get them to sort it to avoid the retest fee.

Just got the car back from Leeds Audi and here is the breakdown:

MOT:
FOC

Labour:
£104.59

Brake Discs:
£30.92+VAT each

Brake Pads:
£32.50+VAT each

Brake Cleaner:
£3.75

Plastilube:
£3.19

net total:
196.13

VAT:
£29.42

Total:
225.55

*sighs*

Expensive day! Could've put the money towards some Eibach's! Oh wells.

£78 for parts.

2 hours labour garage - £60 (or you could have done it yourself).

All in all, you did overpay by about £100 but then you would had to re-mot which is £60ish from Audi so about £40 you could have saved..

Its not too bad lad - I wouldn't worry!! :D

I was having a look at them yesterday, but didn't know whether they were any good or not. But oh wells, it's been done.

Those Mintex any good? Would it fit fine on 17" or 18" wheels?

I got mintex pads on my 345mm oem discs - seem really good. Need to change the brake fluid so cant comment as yet but seem really good - imense stopping power.

We had them on our 410bhp evo with back diamond discs and had them all round on my golf and when i took them on the snake path - they were awesomeee :p Overheated towards the end but still realy good :D

They're extremely good value for money though :D
