I've got some Dodo wax purple haze to keep topping my car up, but what would you recommend I use as a base, if I clay the car and want to tackle it properly?

Its a black S4, not metallic, just solid black.

(I asuume the Purple haze stuff is ok as a wax to finish off with or LSP I believe you guys call it)

Clean > Clay > Cleanse > Polish > LSP

Get yourself some DoDo Juice LimePrime.. it comes in two forms:

- LimePrime
- LimePrime Lite.

The only difference is that the 'Lite' version has no 'micro-abrasives' in.

Using LimePrime by hand/machine usually replaces the need for polishing.. It's a Pre-Wax Cleanser (would be ideal for the base of your Purple Haze..) but has a bit of 'cut' too it, thus knocking out light hairline scratches and swirls. (just as your average poilish would.. *unless its a filler heavy polish, such as AG SRP)

LimePrime 'Lite' would be your dedicated cleanser, if you were happy with the finish on the paint and required no further 'cut'.

Take a read of these reports.. LimePrime is used throughout and they show it's correctional abilities.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for you repsonse, but just want to clarify....

Clean - 2 bucket method as per my normal routine
Clay - Probably a megs clay bar of some sort + QD spray for lube
Cleanse - Lime prime if I have some marks I want to get rid of, but can go straight to the polish stage if not (will have to be applied by hand as i dont have a machine polisher)
Polish - Lime prime lite (again by hand)
LSP - My dodo wax?

Is that correct?

Cheers
Matt

This is what I have been doing recently.

2 bucket
clay (mild)
Poorboys White Diamond Glaze layered
Poorboys EX-P Sealant layered
Dodo Juice Diamond White layered

all by hand

No problem.

Clean - yes
Clay - yes

Cleanse - I like to think of LimePrime as 'a bit of both'; a cleanser and a polish. Using LimePrime after a clay-bar session would usually elimiate the use of a polish. (unless you were doing a full correction). Wax likes to sit on top of LimePrime, it sets the base for a wax to 'bond' well. I wouldn't go on to polish the car after applying LimePrime, because in theory, you already have. (I'm confusing myself now...!)

LimePrime Lite isn't a polish (it doesn't contain the same micro-abrasive that LimePrime does..) it is merely a cleanser.

Lets use two scenarios..

LimePrime - You've cleaned/clayed your car, it's a bit tatty with the odd swirl mark. You'd like to enhance the finish a bit (without having to use a full on polish) before going on to apply your wax.

LimePrime Lite - You've cleaned/clayed and recentely had the car corrected. There are no areas you want to enhance, you merely want a nice base put down for your DoDo wax to sit on.

Hope someone else can confirm this for me - I'm getting lost myself!

Working by hand, and assuming some level of correction is needed, I'd personally go with this...

To correct swirl marks and other light to moderate defects (fine scratches and etching) on your car, we recommend a two stage process starting with Menzerna Intensive Polish in conjunction with Lake Country German CCS Light Cut Pads. Working small areas at a time using firm pressure should enable you to correct around 90% of the defects present in just 1-2 attempts per panel. Any remaining defects should then be partially hidden and the overall finish refined with Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish in conjunction with Lake Country German CCS Polishing Pads. Working small areas at a time using light pressure should enable you to partially hide any remaining defects and maximise the gloss in just a single attempt per panel. You should be aware from the outset that although this method will yield very good results, it will require a significant amount of hard work!

Obviously if your paint is already in excellent swirl free condition, then you can skip the Intensive Polish step and go straight to the Gloss Enhancing Polish. Lime Prime does a very similar job to Gloss Enhancing Polish if you fancy sticking to Dodo products as much as possible.
