Hi all,
Another lurker takes the plunge and registers, so this is my first post. Unfortunately it is not under the best circumstances.
I have been searching for some time on the site for information on a problem with my 2007 S3; in that over the last few months I have been plagued by a metallic knocking noise from the engine between 2k -4k revs, underload. Not unlike the engine noise of the old Talbot Sunbeam - i.e. crap.
Anyway...having had it examined by Audi for a 2nd time (the first time the technician couldnt hear/find a problem! ), they have diagnosed a disintegrating fly wheel!
The vehicle has only 7k and has not been tracked/NBR or modified.
I would appreciate advice on whether this is a known 'one off' fault or symptomatic of something more sinister, clutch probs, etc.
I should explain that I have less than no idea about mechanical issues.
Sorry that it's such a bone first post and promise to try and bring some cheer in future.
Many thanks,
AR
