my s3 has heated seats but they dont work ive had a little look and it looks like the loom is not there as the plugs under both seats are just hanging which i guess is for the heated seats and the controls are in the dash is it just the loom i need as it may have been cut. When i brought the s3 it was stolen recovered but not recorded and the seats came from a 2002 s3 is this a big job and whats involved any help would be appreciated thanks

You need to remove the seat & check whats left underneath from the previous seats then go from there, if the looms were cut then you need to get a new plug/s & maybe repair wires for those plugs & join them accordingly to plug into your seats, a good wiring schematic definitely needed from elsawin for your car, where abouts in UK are you?

As I said there should be some looms under seat loose from the car itself to plug into your seats

Don't worry mate, heated seats retrofit are possible, the only thing you must know it's if your car come with heated seats, so you have to see below and look for a GREEN PLUG. If you got one, those are heated seats, then you have to wire to start to use it.

Retrofit wires are sold by Kufatec in Ebay.

thanks for the reply its a 2000 w reg s3 and it does have the green plugs under both seats i will remove it and have a good look and im from essex near lake side

its also got the controls in the dash for this i will have a look at elsawin

Then as I've already suggested, the loose looms could of been pushed under the carpet into the floor as they come from underneath anyway, so with luck they'll be sitting there awaiting plug in, if the dash has dials then it must have looms there, no one fits the climate with dials without heated seats, they're either hidden or been cut so do as above fella, plugs, repair wires & join etc with elsa's help, thus sorted, make sure use correct gauge wires given current load is about 10-15amps, dont need a fire, melted wires huh, lol

By 'plugs' do you mean the green plastic plugs on the end of cables going under the carpet, or a green plastic bolted to the bottom of the seat? If you have both, then just plug them in.

If the seats don't have them on the bottom frame, then I reckon the seats have been replaced at some point, but with unheated ones, so you would need some replacement heated seats.

Cheers,

yeah just had a look under seat and there is a green block plug on its own on both seats and i lifted 1 side of the carpet up on passengers side but cant see any wires ill have to dig further and on both sides

You need to remove the seats to check properly, takes 5 minutes max, undo 2 bolts slide to back with the seat leaned forward & lift out by lifting rear & swinging the front downward & towards the rear so the headrest is pointing towards the windscreen then should lift straight out, this will allow full view of the underseats then & check car fully for any wiring, I cant see why it would have climate with heated dials but no loom underneath

Watch the runners on bottom of seats when lifting out dont hit any trims as easily scratches, many a time took mine out when had the S3 over 7 years, mainly cause audi couldnt fix something, can you believe I borrowed there workshop tools to fix my own car, useless, totally

lol thats audi for ya it has climate but the dials are seperate from the digital climate mine controls are on the top next to the traction control i was thinking if i get the controls out i might be able to see if there is any wires attached to it then i can follow it

Ah you have pre-facelift as mine was, yeah they do actually just pull out, but be careful not to damage the piano black trim as thats tad rich to replace, if it has wires plugged into them then its gotta have loom somewhere & tbh, if it has them anyway at top then it must have heated seats, cause it requires trim with the holes for the dials, etc etc

i just took the centre console out and the loom is there but it has defo been cut some where it looks like it is a dash out and that black trim i put a little mark on it as well :( this will be quiet a job is it easy to take the dash out

isit possible to retrofit heated seats?

like run another seperate loom instead of hunting the exsisting 1 would be easier i have read before of people retrofitting heated seats

I did say watch the trim, lol, never mind

But you're saying the heater dials are plugged into looms ok in cnsole?

If so then I reckon its as I stated, they're either hidden under seats in carpet or they've been cut of under seats, both of which are fairly simple to resolve, just take the seat out as I suggested mate then you'll know, the time to mess with the centre console you would of had seat easily out/in with your answer, lazy ****, lol

If you are confident about taking seats apart then yeah might be able to get the heating elements from etka, but you'll need elsawin to do wiring for sure.

lol it was getting dark but i will defo do it saturday morning

That doesnt mean anything, cause fuses are used for different options, its not neccessarily one fuse means one component, there are a number of systems that share fuses to receive power, now it maybe there's a fuse there but could be for another component, only surefire way is to remove seats

yeah i have defo got to remove the seat there is a few more plugs underneath but i assume that there for the electric seat but today i took the side pannel of lifted the carpet up and i saw 1 loom but i checked the wire colours on the heated seats controls and they was not the same so i think it may be cut behind the dash but ill get the seats out and go form there

What you gotta realise is the wires that you see in the dash dont neccessarily go to the seats directly, they could be going to other modules on car 1st & fusebox then other coloured wires go from those locations to the floor looms, elsawin will shine the light on that one, so dont think its been cut in dash, I reckon all will be revealed when seat lifted out.

yeah i noticed that when i had the centre console out it went into 1 big loom. with elsawin wat do i have to do never heard of him do i have to pay for a dvd or something?
