Was just wondering what oil you lads use?

How often do you change your oil?

I change mine every 3-4k

Currently using castrol edge.

Any other oil anyone would recommend?

10w40 synta from audi!! works a treat! I got told motul 300v and castrol rs are good oils as they contain double ester!!

Halfords 5W-40

change mine every 6 months or 5k miles.

No problem until now.

Pay £21 for 5L (trade)

Synta gold from VW, nottingham audi have stopped stocking it for some unknown reason.

Will be changed every 6k.

Synta gold is 5w40, where as syta (in a silver bottle) is 10w40. I got recomended to use 10w40 by quattronics audi tuners. They use synta in there 800bhp s2.

Castrol GTX Magnatec 10w/40

i've had mine over 2years now change the oil every 6/7k using mobil 1 0w40, had it serviced by awesome last month and they used mobil 10w40, runs fine but i'l be puttin 0w40 back in very soon, motul 300v is supposed to be good stuff though

Fuchs Titan 10w/40 :icon_thumright:

I get mine from Costco, twin pack of 4l Castrol GTX 10w/40 - £30!!!

Cant go wrong.

Any reason for going back to 0w40?

ICE

hi vanilla ice, i've been using 0w40 since 70k the cars now done 107k and theres no issues so might aswell stick to 0w40

Synta here too, I get mine from GSF, much cheaper there, not sure if they still stock it though.

Yeah they have replaced it with the Titan oil

i use castrol edge 5w30, i change it every 10000miles but it burns half a litre every 1500 miles or so. I do a thousand miles a month so the way i see it is as long as i keep topping it up its like getting a part change of oil, so i only do it every 10000.

I use syntha gold as its what JBS put in it when its service time.
Although... this grade of oil is soon to be no more.
