Hello everybody,

The A3 Sport which I am currently considering comes standard with an armrest which I find rather annoying. According to the dealer I cannot order the car without it.

So the question is: Could I remove the armrest without damaging the front seats and/or the point where it is attached? Is there a least invasive way of doing this without leaving ugly marks behind?

Thank you in advance

Dimitris

The armrest is quite easy to remove. I agree that it does get in the way and I have mine in the upright position most of the time.

Here is a page from the Elsawin workshop manual which shows that the armrest is held in position by a large single bolt and if you decide to remove it, it shouldn't be too difficult to cover over the cutout in the rear of the centre console. You could then always put it back when you come to sell the car.

Thank you h5djr! The drawing is very helpful. It will not be very difficult to remove.

Thanks again

I added my armrest and now couldnt live with out it = its awesome!

As said, if you remove it, it will leave a gapping hole in the centre console which will not be able to be filled!

yeah id just leave your armrest up i fitted one to mine and at first was kinda weird getting used to it but as boydie said i like it now and wouldn't want it gone although i have it on the lowest setting touching the console and its comfortable now i'm used to it ............
