Hi guys.

I'm upgrading my speakers but what size are they (front and back)?

The standard set up is doing my head in!! not clear at all...

Also, are they riveted in or are they screwed in?

And someone said, I'll need to replace some clips in the door panel as they only work once, is this true and what part is it?

Any other advise before i start changing the speakers would be really appreciated.

Cheers Guys :D

They are 6.5" lad blaupunkt - they have a massive casing surrounding the speaker so if you upgrade, you will need MDF rings - the standard speakers just screw out (I think)

Nice one Boydie :D

Going the MDFs off the bay! :D

Should be gettind some DLS Ref R6A and running them off my jbl amp - cant wait till the weather clears up :D

Hows your A3 going? - not heard from you in ages - where you been hiding! lol

The rear's screw out as well which I forgot to mention! The grill just pops off!

I am grand lad so is the A3 - 100% since the new throttle body went in and passed MOT last month!

However, I think my rear bearings are going - terrible droning noise especially at 40mph! But strangely, there is no play in the wheels or noise when you turn the back wheel yourself :S

£60 each they are too!

unless you can spin your wheels by hand at 40mph you probably wont hear them until they get worse :)

We gt this from time to time, its just a noise & you cant work out what side it is. Back on the ramp you pull & spin the wheels & hear nothing :keule:

They have been know to go on this model of A3 so perhaps they are on their way out. Sometimes it can be road noise off of the tyres too.

Car has 83k and is lowered on coilovers with 19" wheels so I would have expected them to go anyway

But!

The noise kind of started when I fit the s-line rear bumper :( thought it would have been a strange coiincidence!

Thanks matey :D

I'll post some pics and vids when its all in!

My a3's done 60k and its had all bearings replaced at just under 40kish and they are quite common...mines 95% motorway miles too...

Dont think my bearings have been done at all - the car was in the family around 35k

it could be..

they are a common prob and two of the 5 A3s i test drove before i got mine had a grunge coming from the bearings..

like a metal grinding...

put a post on here - im sure someone will know 100% whether its the bearing!
