Folding mirrors - Whose had issues on 8P

Ok I have heard a few members have had issues with there folding mirrors, I wanna give audi uk a shout cause if its a known issue I want a new door module then.

Mine do this, when I fold in they are fine fold in fully, but occassionally when I fold out they dont fold out fully & are not locked in place, so loose & I have to fold in & then fold out again & push the mirror at same time so it locks into place so effectively you're assisting the motor, this works

I know its the door module because I changed the mirrors, door switch, loom etc & also recently stuck a newer door module on that had folding abilities & that worked 100% each time it folded.

So anyone had issues with it folding in or out fully?

If I have some people to report to audi uk as evidence then I know they will probably cough up for a module, I've heard others managed.

My drivers side mirror used to not fold out properly, but went into the stealer for fixing and (touch wood) has been fine very since - that was 12 months ago.

Cheers slick, Jon please can you let me know the fix please as audi uk are now getting involved as it seems to be a consistent issue with the 8P from 04 up to even 08 as Nate has it on his 08 aswell & I want new module from them as its proven to be on multiple cars, might need some drivers info to give to audi uk aswell just as evidence but if I need I would appreciate any help as its a £200 part, I can fit myself but I've spent alot of money on vag cars in 10-14 years & this is the 1st time I have had called them about this kinda thing so justified I think.

I had the same problem with my drivers side, took the glass out and put some wd40 on the hinge bit and haven't really had the problem since.

Got to be honest, I didn't ask what they did to fix it as it was a warranty job, I was just glad it was working again. I'll give the dealer a ring if you like to see if they've got any notes on the system to see what the fix was.

If its not to much trouble please I would appreciate it as its the exact fault I have drivers side only doesnt fold properly, passengers is fine, I know its door module but given anal audi they need to have evidence of others & also have to show my stealers the issue

This happened on mine at first, They first changed the wing mirror module, that worked for a couple of months then one wing mirror closed and one stayed out. So i took it back to the local audi garage again and they had it for 4 hours and they changed mirror switch and module again. Guess what, Three more months later it started again this time they said they had done system version update and since then i've had not a problem.

Is there any folding mirrors that work 100% of the time on any model/make of car? They all seem to have problems?

You couldnt do me a favour could you & maybe ask the stealer which module they updated exactly cause there are many modules & tbh it can only be the door module that they updated as this is the only thing that does the folding & as its unfolding issues it would always have power anyway so its not even a loss of power issue, strange as the newer module I tested with worked 100% everytime, but I cant stick this on my car at moment

Yes the folding mirrors work very well & tbh mines just either a door module needed or firmware update, but they're very reliable themselves its the electronics that govern them, namely door modules as I had folding mirrors on my S3 8L but I wired them in myself no door modules or coding etc, they worked perfectly everytime, folding mirrors/motors work properly as long as the power is given properly, I actually hard wired in to my current cars folding mirrors to test them to fault analyse & they worked perfectly everytime I folded out so proved its door modules

I've had my passenger mirror refuse to swing out sometimes. Although, closing the mirrors and then opening them again seems to unstick it. However, when it does open, it does so fully.

I remember reading about this in 05.

Mine have always worked but the driver's side is always slower to unfold but was told this is normal!
