Hi, I'm in the market for getting my 140 TDi A3 remapped and just wondered what feedback anyone had about the various companies.

I'm in Sheffield, so I was considering either custom code from JBS in Chesterfield, or GIAC from Stattler - but haven't read any customer feedback for either of their diesel remaps. Anyone used either of these, or have any other recommendations?

they are pretty much all the same for a basic remap as long as you go with a well known tuner - im sure there are very good ones who are not well known as well though!

features such as customer switchable/removable may be more important to you than very minor differences between the maps of different companies

try self tuning units - the bluefin is good but im getting a ST3 with the fast road map for road and race map for track.

The fast road is less aggresive compared to the bluefin and you can change the maps on the St3 between standard and the other 2 whereas on the bluefin its just standard and the remap you have!

I'll have mine before xmas so i can give a review but here's a good review about the St3: http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/189721.aspx

theres a few more: http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/151.aspx

i have been looking in to Revo Remap and it will make the 140hp TDI go awsome i am getting mine in new year hiopefully.

What about a tailored remap instead of a stock one?
Does anyone know what figures you will get from a 140 TDI
Cheers

you wont really do much better than a stock one, unless you can get the car the breathe easier.

standard 140 has too much air, not enough fuel
add more fuel and possibly a slight bit more boost for a standard remap - ~170-180hp
2) add more fuel = lots of black smoke and a few more hp maybe

next add more boost and more fuel - maybe more mid-range torque but no more bhp at the top end cos the turbo is already maxed out or battling other restrictions

add (in theor) decat, free exhaust, air filter mods = more air at the mid and top range plus more fuel = more torque and more bhp

but at high boost pressures, the turbo becomes increasing inefficient, heating the air up and not generating any more power, but he exhaust temps go up risking turbo failure

i tried a superchips remap, other similar remap, higher boost remap all on the same car and couldnt feel any differences or measure any difference between them on a rolling road either.

basically its
1) a standard remap £350-5500 or so
2) hybrid turbo, custom remap and possibly custom exhaust/decat or sport cat for between 220 and 245hp depending on who does it and who you believe approx £1100 to £1600

I agree with everthing Dunk says. Custom Code are good diesel maps and very well priced at the moment so if you live close to JBS just pop around to them or they will drive to you and put a map on your car for the same price. Please note i say this even though i hate JBS and they know nothing about diesel tuning.

Hi maddox

We can offer you performance software for your 140PD A3

Power gains will be in the region of 35-40bhp and 40-50ft/lb torque.

As with all of our software the drive is greatly improved with the power coming in at low RPM and pulling strongly to the higher RPM where the standard car lacks any feel.

Price wise including our 30% discount is £362.25 inc VAT

If you would like to give us a call on 01246 455004 we can discuss your enquiry further

Is it just Revo that uses un-traceble code (at dealer) when you use the switcher?

Go to Statller in Sheffield , see Steve junior, top bloke, just had motorsport re-map on my other car, Mk5 Golf gt tdi 140 4 motion excellent service, will map to you spec , good price, also does GIAC re-map which I have on my S3.

Cannot say a bad work about the company, excellent service, very nice change to find someone who cares about customers and is down to earth bloke.
