Hi guys.

Got 2 of my tyres slashed the other day and i had a set of budgets that I've put on for now but they're crap.

Recently had 3 puctures so guess someones got it in for me....

Anyways, went to a mate whos got 225/45/18 Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and he can do them me for a better price as a customer ordered but never colllected (quite a big saving compared to the normal costs)

If i put the 225/45/18 on the fronts with the standard size (225/40/18) on the rears, will this be ok.

I'm only going to have these tyres for a while as im planning on upgrading in a few months.

Cheers

Not much in it so I doubt it would be an issue to be honest.

No No

You shall not have another dimension on one of the axels. And 225/45-18 is not the right hight for your speedo,

My mate had similar scenrio to you,and it was causing his abs light to come on,so i would keep all four tyres the same

My speedos already out a fair bit (Says 75 when im doing 70 according to my Tomtom)

They're only going to be for a while and I'm not going part worn after the tyre blew out in our CTR at 70+...

The price I'm getting them at is just short of buy one tyre and get the 2nd free.

Just stick to 225/40/18 and get some decent tyres lad! None of this budget business.

Exactly mate..

But my options are cheaper tyres (not budgets) or these 225/45/18 michelin pilot sports....

I'm only going to be running these for a few months before i upgrade to 19s but dont know whether to take the risk :(

Hope your lowering with 19s? What wheels you got in mind?

Yup...i'll lower after i get the wheels on.

Thinking BBS ATM...CH/Ck etc. The new black edition CH look awesome imo.

But i kind of like the look of a few 5 spokes too :S

Just want the remap done and then i'm looking into the aesthetics :p

I thought the 45 was standard?

I got 225/45/17 so if I was to upgrade to 18's, would I need to go with 225/40/18?

NOTE: I've got Sports suspension

Yep...standard size for 18s is 225.40.18

My mates running 20s on his A3 with 225.30.20 ?

Wont that have messed up his geometry ?

When you upgrade any car to bigger wheels, even on factory upgrades the rolling radius is never identical. Therefore running the 5% extra profile wont be an issue. When you go up to 19's the radius will be out anyway so wheres the worry? only problem would be if your car is quattro then its a definate no no! As long as they are on identical axle pairs, a 2WD will be perfectly safe!
