Had a load of kit in my boot for a week or so which I thought I could hear sliding around.

After emptying my boot the sound's still there??.. Like a slight knock with a bit of a creaky/kit sliding around sort of sound.

Had the boot liner out and spare wheel last night but there's nothing loose in there so I'm looking towards suspension or wheel bearing but need time to get it up on axle stands and check it all over.

Any ideas/suggestions?

There's always f'in something!!

Could it be the exhaust? Check the hangers to make sure they're not bent or cracked.

I did a quick check to see if there was any play at the tailpipe/end but I'll def have a good look when she's up on the stands.. probably tomorrow night by torch light!!

It won't be a wheel bearing. Creaking noises is usually bushes, with lower hub assembly bushes or wishbones. Badly worn bushes can knock too. Give it all a good going over with a pry bar. Can't get the sliding noise you're on about though, sorry.
Si.

Yeah I'm thinking worn bushes.. The sliding kind of noise made me think wheel bearing although it'd be more constant which it's not. I'm going to have a good look over tomorrow so hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it.

Cheers mate.

Jacked her up last night and had a good look for wear/play around the bushes and top mounts but all seems to be ok.. covered the bushes with WD40 to see if it had any influence on the sound and it's now stopped!!

I'm obviously going to keep an eye on it but pleased with that for now.. at least I know it's safe to drive.

Think I've got frostbite in my *** from the cold concrete though :cold:
