Hi

Am trying to sell my 1.8T (190). Have it currently on Trader for £10,250 as is (i.e. including remap, zorst, etc), or £10,000 back as standard. Car's in excellent condition new Mot/6mths Tax, 40k miles, does now need a service but replaced the coils/plugs 2 weeks ago so the cost would be minimal.

What do you think is a realistic selling price? Have seen a couple of standard 190s going for c£8k, but with generally higher mileage/less spec.

Am relocating in the next month or so, so need to get rid soonest, but don't want to give it away, if I can help it.

£9,500 too high ??

Yes £10K is way to high. I bought an 05 2.0tdi SE B7 (with 40K miles on the clock) from an Audi dealer for less than that.

Not being funny, but a a 2.0tdi SE (B7) should have cost less than that anyway. Bet the specs was less also.

I do however appreciate your view, I will be lowering my price to something (hopefully) more realistic.

Even if it's an 04 on a 53 plate it's only worth £6k mate. £10k is dreamland I'm afraid, you can get an S4 with similar mileage for less than that.
The extra's are worth nothing in the secondhand market and can actually put buyers off.

Not from an Audi Dealer in October with a yrs warrenty and mot and tax, with no mods etc .... compared to and older 1.8T buying private ? Get real... thats why your car isn't selling.

£6k is rubbish ! It's an 04 on a 54 plate.

Sorry but don't agree. Appreciate the fact I haven't sold it yet, so may be premature saying so, but if you check Trader, they're going for high £8000's and low £9000s, for my model (190), age and mileage.

I'll see what happens for the next week. If no interest at £9750, then will lower again. Will also try and sell the zorst separately in that case too as I'm sure it will sell for a few hundred quid on its own... Not too bothered about the rest.

You can disagree all you like but even Parkers say it's only worth £7k in immacualte condition. Autotrader shows what people are asking not what they get (if anything), thought that was pretty obvious. That said there's plenty on there with similar or better spec than yours for less than £7k that haven't sold. Get real man!

Parkers reckon £9700 for a good condition car in private sale.

However at the end of the day your car is worth what someone is willing to pay.

That's really wierd, I selected 04 on a 53 plate and it's £7k. Just tried 04 on a 54 plate and you're right it comes back with £9.7k!
7-9 months cannot add 38% to the valuation, what a load of ******** parkers is!
7k is far more realistic. As said you can get a 53 plate S4 for £9.7k.

The link you provided was for a standard 1.8T 190 not an S-Line. That's where the difference is. If you go for a 2004/53 Sline then it's not much less than a 54 plate car.

You can only get S-Lines on 04 & 54 plates

Not that it helps much

I think I'll keep my car forever!! :lmfao:

Yes sorry didn't scroll down past the diesels to find the secret 1.8T's!
But you can tell their estimates are ********. If you choose the Sline over the non sline, same car, same year, they reckon the difference is nearly £2k when the difference in RRP is only £357!
Same with the 1.8T sport, which is £1k more expensive than the sline but still only gets valued at £7.9k.
I certainly wouldn't pay £2k more for "sports" suspension and a few badges.

Once again autotrader is the asking price, I've just put my B5 on there for £22k so it is now worth £22k although I'll take £21k for it.

I think its unfair to use S4's as a comparison, they are really getting hit hard because of the V8. I wouldn't be surprised if the S4 actually drops below the vakue of a good 1.8t. Cars are only worht what someone is prepared to pay, however looking at fontains website over the past 7 days lots of there cars seem to be selling fast.

Also if you advertise it at a low price people will either think there is something wrong with it as its too cheap and will still want to beat you down on price. At least if you aim high you have more margin for movement, i'd search autotrader and watch a few cars to see what happens, I guess £8995 would be a good place to start.

Guys

My (last) estimate was correct - car now sold £8750. Virtually given it away at that too.

Yes my original tag was high, but similarly the suggested values of c£6-7k were way off the mark too.

Cheers all the same.

;)

People are always way off with pricing. £6,000? Highly unrealistic. Although prices have dropped a lot recently there are still people out there who'll pay good money for the right car. Having said that there are a lot of chancers who try and play on the current financial climate and make you absurd offers.

I sold my R32 two weeks ago for only £100 less than what I paid for it in January, and I had a lot of interest in it despite it being a thirsty 3.2 V6 which is probably seen as the Anti Christ nowadays.

i had a tornado red vr6, and it was more exciting than the a4 any day.

to be fair though an R32 is a highly sought after car and will always get a lot of interest and top price, the A4 however is not.

Don't believe anything a dealer tells you. Funny how all the things that were good about the car when you bought it from them, suddenly turn into really bad things when you want to give it back. They will offer you the worst possible book price unless you're buying something new from them.
