After running a £50 German Ebay-sourced analogue tuning box on my 110bhp A4 for the last 2 years I was of the opinion that they are all the same really............
Well, I was wrong!
Bought a bargainously cheap s/h digital Dragon Performance box on Ebay the other week and have had it on there for the last week or so...........
The difference is amazing! No more plumes of black smoke when giving it some welly, the increase in torque really noticable, and whats more, over a 260 mile test (couldn't wait to re-fill tank to see economy I was getting) it did 50.3 mpg, thats a mixture of motorway/ urban and fast A-road traffic, up from 46-47 with the old box fitted.
To say I'm impressed with it is an understatement, if there are other A4 owners looking at Dragon modules I'd say go for it, they even responded to my email about a request for fitting instructions for mine within the hour, as mine didn't come with any!

the pikey ebay boxes are a resisor in a fancy box, as much use as a choclate tea pot. esp the 2 pin ones that fool the temp sensor to thing its colder than it is.

proper boxes are 99% as good as a re-map,

do you have a link or picture of your tuning box. i have recently brought an A4 TDI 2000 and was looking to buy one. i think it's a 100bhp but not sure. feels much slower then my 115bhp Bora

cheers

mine was from here

but i got it off ebay foe £60 lol

Think you were done there then as mine was only £50!

Here you go, nothing much to look at , but makes a big difference to the way it drives; the best £50 on Ebay I think I've ever spent!

Hi

We offer tuning boxes that do the same thing as the Dragon box. We are a DPT dealer, these are the ones that where on TV with Quentin Wilson recently. They are top quality and Mercedes in Holland have even approved these for installation at their dealers! They boxes are £300 inc VAT plus £6 P&P. Let me know what car you have and I can give you power andf torque increases.

Was thinking about getting one of these, but wondering how easy it is to tell you have had one fitted when it has been removed? Thinking about my company car/ servicing?

I've looked on e-bay, but i couldn't find dragon power box. I'm thinking about purchasing one, but I'm not sure if my engine will handle it (1999 90hp).Also i have found that there are fake boxes http://obd.ec.cz/PowerBox/

Sorry about my english

There are loads of these types of boxes out there. The actual boxes are all pretty much the same, the differance is with the settings they have in them. Some are really just guess work others are thoroughly tested. The DPT boxes we sell are top quality and TUV approved even fitted at Merc dealers in Holland.
You can not tell one of these units has been on once they have been removed so are perfect for cars still under warranty.

Wheeler97 if your engine is the 1.9TDi 90bhp then it will definately take a unit. It will go from 90bhp to 115bhp and the torque will go from 210Nm to 260Nm.

I understand that a good power box will increase my engines power and torque, but I'm not sure if it won't harm my engine or turbo because it has done 190000km (118060 miles). I really don't wish to rebuilt my engine or turbo because of some kind of box that might get crazy with my injectors, sensors or turbo boost. My question is: won't a normal power box mess my cars engine or electronics up?

Thank you for your answers :icon_thumright:

This box works because there is normally loads of air left in the combustion chamber after each power stroke and the box just ups the fuel prossure in the injectors to put more fuel in so all the air gets used and the combustion is more efficient. These boxes can't increase the boost pressure so do not put the engine under any additional stress.

This is actually a really good price, most other similar products are £350+. The Tunit unit, which is very similar electronically and the settings are are of equally good quality and retails for £480 inc VAT. Cheaper products are usually cheaper for a reason!

I've got a Dragon box on my 1.9tdi PD. The difference is immense, without the box the car feels gutless and boring to drive, with it on, it's so much more lively and fun
