Hi all just picked up my S3, over the moon with it bar a few niggles, one thing i have jut noticed is my temp gauge did not move all the way home, any way obviously need it sorted,

Could it be the thermostat? where would this be located, and how much and where can i get one please? if that sounds like the cause,Would it be easy for some one to fitwhos not a mechanic, thanks,

how long was the drive? it does take some time to start moving, esp in the cooler weather.

Temp sender is my guess (as usual). £20 from Audi dealer.
Do the climate control trick to check it's not a faulty gauge. With the car running hold in the recirc and up arrow buttons. The display will change to "1" then use the up arrow to pump the number up to 49 and press recirc again. The display will then show you the temp. Press recirc & up again to revert back to normal.

Hi are they easy to fit yourself? if the control trick works does that mean it could be the sender? thanks for your reply

No the CC readout gets it's info from the same temp sender, it's just more accurate and will prove whether it's the temp sender (same low reading as the gauge) or a duff gauge on the dash (90-100 degrees shown on the CC).

Glad you got it sorted. Maybe the 49 trick is different in the A3 but that sequence works on my B5.

Mines been not going very high latley, someone once told me a faulty sender and reading on the gauge can cause problems, as in sending incorrect signals to the ECU, anyone know?

Should prob get one, so they are about £20 from Audi?
