Considering selling the A3 to a mate of mine (he loves it) & getting a brand new s3 but a little unsure of what it would be worth since I've been messing around with it.

It's an 04 2.0 FSI Sport 3 door petrol with FSH, 73k, brand new s-line leather seats & trim, RNS-E, BOSE & Parrot handsfree fitted. Am also about to fit a brand new single grill, bumper & bonnet at the weekend (so looks immaculate).

I was thinking around 9k ? Is this fair ?

Cheers, trouble is it doesn't specify the additional options. I'm unsure as to how much the Bose, RNS-E & new interior & grill etc adds to the price.

Probably nothing. You very rarely get any extra value for extras with the possible exception of leather interior, DSG or automatic gearbox and air conditioning.

You could try a dealer and see what they would offer as a trade-in and base your selling price on that.

Yea, most people take out all the electrical extras and maybe some mods when selling because they add next to nothing to the value to the car. Odd tho.. since you paid money for it.

In a lot of cases extras may help to sell a car but very often add nothing at all to the actual value.

I usually order my new cars with quite a few extras but they are all items that I want to have for the three or so years I will own the car. With the exception of the DSG and possibly the air-con, I never expect to get much if anything back for them when I trade-in. My dealer has often added a few hundred to the trade-in price though because he says it makes my car easier to sell over a similar car with any extras.

Mind you he has normally sold my car before he even gets it!

I paid 9k for my 54 plate 2.0TDI DSG S-line with 54k and FSH, 12 months tax and 12 months MOT

Extras were armrest, auto lights/wipers/rear view mirrors, interior lighting pack and reverse sensors.

Sounds like i got a good deal!

Prices vary a lot, I looked for ages, some were 7k private and 10k plus at dealers, somewhere in the middle sounds right.

Glass's guide book price for your car in imaculate condition is £6230 which is what you would get offered in part ex roughly, privately its worth a bit more but not 3K more. Cars especially petrol ones are hard to shift at the moment. The only extras that bump the price on A3s are Bose and metalic paint the others aren't in that much demand and just make the car a better sale at the same price.

You got a VERY good deal!!

Thanks guys. Not really worth me flogging it then. I paid 6500 for it around 4 months ago & spent nearly a couple of thousand on the upgrades. The car feels like new & I'm just lusting after the S3 shape so in the grand scheme of things wouldn't be too different.
