Nuri's liquid S3 boost gauge

I've got a 2000MY APY S3 (there are some that had analogue clocks so they might be different again). I'm happy to check anything that would help on VAG-Com but I've got no idea what block oil temp might be, any ideas on what to look for?

I'd be interested if this can really tell me oil temp as I'm always worried mine gets ****** hot.

MINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a good look fella,as im itching to know if i can run 1 of these with ful functions on my car now...

Cheers from Greece guys!
As always, we've applied our creativity in installing this excellent device in our cars from S3/TT Greek club!
You can judge from the pictures below...

oooh im liking the look of this, not sure if id prefer it over VAG Com though as i wouldnt be able to post figures up on here to ask whats wrong, also id be worried about making the car 'look' modified (my thing i dont expect many to share the same view)

Looks ****** good though, and if i were to want to fit a boost gauge id defo go for this option instead - good value and looks excellent

Any news what an APY engine can run with this gauge yet???Pete..

It's finally installed, and it looks the mutts. Even if I do say so myself!

A massive thank you to Jim and Nev. Awesome products guys¬

I can check on any cars in the edinburgh/fife area to confirm what will be seen on the various models if there is anyone around, it is a 10 min job.

Clatch, the AGU is a pain as it doesn't show boost via vag-com.

Below are the measuring blocks that the liquid uses, so anyone can check what they will or won't see with the liquid.

MAF - 2
RPM - 2
TIMING CORRECTION - 20
BOOST PRESSURE - 115
ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE - 113
AIR INTAKE TEMP - 4
COOLANT TEMP - 4
SPEED - 5
REQUESTED BOOST - 115
EXHAUST TEMP - 112
LAMBDA - 31
N75 - 114
MISFIRE - 15, 16
OIL TEMP - 50 (FROM INSTRUMENT PANEL)

Cheers
Jim

Freegeek, I have an APY S3, and I also have a GReddy Informeter which is very similar to what your thing does actually. Using the Honda settings(nothing else works), everything seems to work apart from Boost Pressure where there is no signal, but Honda don't make a Turbocharged roadcar(Excl. diesels), so maybe this is a reason why it doesn't show anything for the boost pressure menu.

Not too sure if this info is any help to you at all, but thought I would mention it...

Thanks, the Informeter uses OBDII to get the data and non of the GolfMK4 platform cars gives bosst info over OBDII so it is no surpise you could not see anything.

The liquid uses KW1281 the VAG propriatery protocol to get boost info, so unfortunately we are no further forwards.

We need someone with an APY egine and a vag-com lead to have a look and see if the bosst info is displayed.

Try asking over at the vag-com area, you may get more luck there.

True, but surely,(not bein funny) why cant you?? Im offering to put £200 in your hand,if you do a little bit of homework, and then when you know you can shift even more units.... If i was closer to you,id be happy to be a guinnie pig for you,but ive asked about for someone local to me,with VAG COM,but no 1 has it...Pete...

I think I have got to the bottom of the issue with oil temp on the S3, the oil temp info comes from the dash board, it turns out that the S3 dash board comms runs at a different baud rate to the TT dash. Should be easy to fix now.
Hi freegeek!

I have a 1.8T AMK 2001 S3.
Is the oil temp issue finally solved? Or we have to wait for v1.08?
Please give feedback and thanks in advance!
The reference on your site is still not updated...

Hi,

Boost data is available on the APY, just the same as AMK, BAM..

I finally got a chance to test on a A4 yesterday and it worked just fine, it turns out that diffrent dash boards work at different baud rates. I needed to put in some auto baud rate software in.

I will include this in the next official release of software, but put it into any new S3 orders.

Hi Jim,

You should find most the functions working with APY, with only the following to really note..

No EGT probe.
No misfire counters.

Lambda is narrow band.

Oil temp from the dash I have no idea !

Cheers
Morgan

Pull the slats out first and put your hand in it and pull!! Rather than shoving a screwdriver down the side

Also it will be tight once you have popped it half out as the wires for the illumination aren't very long at all, so you will need a pair of long nose wire cutters to give to as much slack as poss to make it easier to connect when you put it back in.

Thanks s£ works grate have you got a boost gauge?
interested in seeing what other a3/s3 owners stick there gauges?

hi
nuri i have sent the vent today so you will receive it tomorrow
whats the normal tern around time?
thanks

Did anyone ever take pictures of the completed in-vent set up in an S3?
I'd really like to see the Liquid Gauge in-situ and see the various gauges/graphs on the screen.

Please and thankyou muchly.:salute:

Hi mate, I have an s3 8l ABY. All function should work ok. I use vagcom on mine and all functions are displayed. I will defo be having one of these, great for me to have this info built into dash (instead of laptop on passanger seat) I use a Revo sps3.

On my APY S3 (99T) I get the missfire counters with vag , and the boost should def work with the liquid s3 as its present and working in vag.Great device this for my ride.. I will defo be having one.

what are those Don, AFR and boost? Did you weld in another lamda boss for the AFR? or use the post cat boss after a decat? Be interesting to have a wideband readout.

Not sure if my AUM is wideband or narrowband lamda as standard now..... Bill/tufty?
