has an engine from an s2 ever been put in a b5 a4?

I did consider that option, between my b2,7 biturbo and S8 motor, but the length makes it a not too attractive option.

It's longer than a V8.

it is also hewn from a solid block of extra heavy cast iron!!!
I had a 90 Quattro and my god are they nose heavy!!

even the 20v doesn't tune up as well as the much more advanced 2.7 V6 or 1.8t
they are pretty bulletproof internals but a pain to work on

I wouldn't compare the I5 20V (7A) with the 1,8 / 2,7 turbo motors.

Now the I5 20V turbo motors (RR, 3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) are more than comparable with the later 1,8 / 2,7 turbo versions.

Yes but it was a track only vehicle and IMHO was not the smartest combination.

If I were you I would find a VR5 from a B5.5 Passat and transplant that in.There are MANY options available for this motor stateside and the combination would be perfect. It might actually be in the next project car :D

Hi bro, I guessed it was you!

Welcome aboard.

Yes, the V5 will be a direct bolt-in replacement.

Will need to be boosted though, as it doesn't make loads of power as standard, or respond favourably to conventional tuning methods.

Its a boat anchor in stock form but nothing we do in stock anyway :D
