Guys,

Is the Audi Europe DVD currently in version 8.1?

Cheers :)

Its probably easier to identify by part number, 8P0 060 884 AA is the 2008 DVD. 2009 version will be out soon though.

Thanks Isaac, but unfortunatley I didnt get an original Disc when I purchased the RNSe from Ebay. All it says on the DVD is "Audi Europe 8.1"

Im trying to make a backup of the DVD since this one is damaged and works only 95% of the time...

I guess it could mean its the 2008 DVD version 1? (Only 1 DVD has been issued for 08 I think) You'd be better off getting hold of an original version though. ( Hint hint - As I have one for sale!)

LoL! Oh yeah? How much do you want for that then? Keep it sensible too mate, im on the thick end of a credit crunch over here :)

Quick look on Ebay reveals this one for £190.

Mine is exactly the same and includes both DVD's and the case etc. £95 delivered.

As in western europe this year then yes just one & its the AA version Isaac mentioned, where as the DVD pack had east/west europe DVD's included.

I'm sure new ones imminent.

THe " :( " was in reply to the bidding war comment, since I dont really fancy getting into one those :p

Cheers for the offer though Isaac, but i cant really spare the cash right now so i'm going to have to persevere with trying to get this copy copied!! so far all i get from the unit is "disc improperly inserted" LoL!

Wasn't there a problem with that disc when you received the unit? Didn't it dislodge in transit?

Maybe a polite email to the seller might result in a new copy being dispatched.

Good memory! Well it transpires that when the unit is first plugged in it takes a while to set up. Hence why the disc wouldnt release. I didnt know that at the time and thought there was a problem with the unit, so i tried to remove the disc manually (with knives) which resulted in some light damage to the DVD, which is why i think it only works intermittently.

Just burning another disc now at 1x speed to see if that works, if so, i'll be selling them on ebay at £5 buy it now hehe :)

well ebay.de seems to have the AA genuines for cheap enough, saw one other day for 99 euros so Isaac's price isnt to bad given stealers prices.

Brighton audi's new setup is starting to resemble a porsche dealership with the exterior, admittedly its nice not that my car would ever be in there TBH as I cant stand the service & sales staff as most not all but most are very patronising/condescending until you get technical & make them look like an ****, lol, not being big headed at all but hey if yer gonna talk technical or start using ****** with someone 1st make sure they dont know what your talking about

So Isaacs markup is like £90 feck me

LoL! Well that bit was a joke, i wouldnt want to get done for piracy!

I had a non-original DVD in my old A3 and it frequently displayed the message you get.

I eventually worked out that it was heat related and got some blank DVDs of a better quality and it was fine.

Does yours work for a while and then give up?

So was mine

Whats this allegiance to Mitch in sig about, has he done something else to his S3 now, come on spill the beans.

Thats sounds familiar when I bought a nav disc ages ago honestly not knowing was copy & it seemed to change its mind when it would work, got refund luckily, seemed to work for brief while then not, so could very well be as you say.

Yeah. I works normally fine, but on a long run i get "DVD - unreadable" Taking it out then re inserting it (after holding it out the window) gets it working for a while :)

Ive copied the DVD image to my HD using DVD decrypter to get round the protection, then ive burned it using powerISO, but it didnt work...

Im now trying at a slow 1x speed using another prog to see if that works. 12 % to go :)

I guessed mate, i just wanted to be blatant so the copyright police dont come beating my door down!

He got 304bhp at the recent RR day. To date thats the hottest standard reading weve had, so... :)

It is DVD brand related aswell in terms of quality of the disc, seen this many times mentioned before think over on audiforum.us.

lol, as though they would, so whats your postcode again, lol

ah the clouds now have cleared

Are you saying your trying to make a copy of the damaged DVD? I cant see how that will help? I downloaded (still on hardrive) the 2008 map but couldn't get it to burn using my DVD drive despite doing all the necessary measures. I ended up getting a copy off of a fellow member.

Ha, yes you'd think so, but as with scratched CDs, making a copy fixes it (in most not so severe cases) so I was hoping the same with a DVD too.

Could you email me the contact details of said member? This second burn aint worked either!

if i remember it correctly then you need to burn the disc using book mode (whatever that is!)

You need to change the book type to DVD Rom. My desktop supported this but any copies (slowest burn speed possible) didnt work - just the firmware update and then insert DVD...

Im the same as you Khufu, seems weve trawled the same webpages trying to find a fix! Either ive got a **** DVD burner (possible) or a **** blank DVD (again possible)

I'll have a go with my superior Mac, using one of my superior quality DVDs and then go test it in my superior standard S3.

Ha ha ha,

Getting a big head now hey fella..... i'm hot on ya heels buddy, perhaps when mines done 45k miles it will be there! LOL

Going to strip all my badges off too for weight saving! :beerchug:

Still laughing at the fact Leon stuck knives in his new head unit! Damn technology!

Quick one - if I currently have a 2007 disk and have done the 0660 SDS Hack am I right in thinking that (for reasons I don't understand) if I insert a 2008 disk the SDS will cease to work ?
Seem to remember something about this but I am tempted by Marc's find on French eBay. Anyone ?

Unless you have a dual layer Pioneer DVD burner and burn using Verbatim dual layer DVD+R all you will burn will be a firmware update DVD.

Verbatim was the one I couldnt remember

Ahhh, the Disc. Its Philips DVD+R... I thought they invented the f*cker!

It cant be my drive, just checked it using DVDinfopr0 which shows it writes DL dvds ok:

Ahhh, the Disc. Its Philips DVD+R... I thought they invented the f*cker!

true, but didnt Mercedes invent the car......

I used a program called DVDInfoPro to change my drives book type to DVD Rom. Did that but still didnt work, maybe due to not trying Verbatim
