Hi, has anyone on here fitted votex skirts?

If so i was wondering how you get the original trim pieces off the side of the car? The instructions say to remove them but its not obvious how to do it, do you force them out with a screw driver because it mentions they are fitted with an adhesive?

There is a piece about 18 inch long on the rear quarter to remove and a piece about 3 inches on the front wing, any help would be appreciated as if i can do it myself I can save a bit of cash as the rest of the instructions make the job look very simple

Thanks

may i ask where and how much it cost for those skirts mate

Great deal! Just need to find the front and rear ones now, i was considering updating the front to facelift but when I found out I needed to change the bonnet I sort of went off the idea!

Do not bother with the rear - looks crap in my opinion - upgrade the rear bumper to a facelift s-line, much nicer!

Yes it does look slighty chavvy, well what i mean is "bolt on"

The later S line bumper has the parking sensors in a different place, do you think mine would just swap over? I assume the sensors will fit in the holes just the same?

I cant seem to find a bumper as i need the sensor holes, plenty of lower valances appear on ebay though, might buy one and put it in my loft until i find a bumper!

BTW, you might have gathered i refuse to buy brand new at the stealers!

Thanks for the reply but I dont have the large grille so it wont fit!

Is yours 3 or 5 door

Heres mine before

heres boydies instructions from another post

Look at the bottom of each door

On either side you will see two strips of colour coded plastic

These are to be removed by simply pulling them off (with a bit of force)

The skirts are supplied with two brackets each which need to be screwed on after spraying - these act as spacers between the car body and skirt

there are clear stickers with the pack to cover holes that are in the body work

you are also supplied with a paint cleaner for the adhesive which you should wipe around the skirt area on the car

Apply bonder (supplied or bought) to the edges of the skirt as well as take the sticker covers off the skirt to be ready for applying them to the car

once on the car, with help from another, use a lot of masking tape to hold them onto the car and let it sit for as long as you can

thats it really

heres a 5 door with them on

Yeah because they were £100!

The S3 ones are quite expensive once you have bought all the bits and bobs needed to fit them! They need door extension pieces aswell.

Its added work but cost wise, christ its unreal as its like 2-300 for the skirts, then you need new bottom of door trims as s3 ones are thicker to be flush with skirts lines, then you have to change the sills to go over the skirts as they fix where your the s3 skirts will be, but whats very very strange is new sline sills are like double the price of s3 ones, s3 ones were £30 a side & sline were like £70 a side, couldnt believe it tbh, neither could my parts guy, lol, guess sell more so hike the prices, so I went for s3 ones, yeah I know not an s3 but I'm not paying £70 a side for sills no way especially when its hardly seen, just wanted to fill a gap & the old ones are not tall enough to go over the new skirts with flush fitting, neither are the slines ones anyway so stuck with s3 sills.

You'll need to sikaflex the undersides of the s3 ones as they would normally fix with welded threads on the chassis as s3 has, but not on my car, but once sikaflexed there's no way thats coming of again, lol.

(A well entrenched and dead thread I know, but...)

Chaps in the know, I'll assume yes - but given that these Votex Skirts might be part of my little 'facelift' work, will they fit an 8P3 or MY10 A3 Black Edition? (3 door)

Thanks.

Yep i dont see why not mate. Are those votex kits even still around?
