i have just recently bought my s3 about 5 weeks ago and need to sell, personal reasons, i just want to find out what people think of the price and if anyone is interested.

its an MY2002 52 plate
metallic silver with full black leather interior
36000 miles
privacy glass
full audi service history (long life)
folder with recipts for parts and so on
all previous M.O.T
it was serviced late august by the previous owner
new avon tyres all round
new discs and pads all round

the car is near perfect no dents or scratches, with very few stone chips, alloy wheels are in very good condition and the interior is the same with nearly new audi fitted floor mats

it has all the usual s3 spec with a few extras

parking sensors
bose sound system with 6 cd multi changer built in to the center consol
i think the only things it does'nt have are heated seats and arm rest.

the only things i have done to the car was to have it revo mapped and a new panel air filter fitted. this makes the s3 feel the way Audi should have made it.

im looking for 11,500 - £12,000, i think the car merits this value due to its condition and the high resale value of the s3. Also due to the price of some s3's on autotrader and pistonheads.

any comments are welcome, and if anyone is interested just ask for my number.

cheers

eddie

To be honest I think you're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think you're gonna get £12k for it in the current economic climate. It may have been worth that 6 months ago but second-hand car values, especially big-engined and performance cars have plummeted recently.

I think you'd be lucky to see £10k, and even then it may well take a long time to sell.

It sounds like a lovely car though and good luck with the sale.

nice one mate cheers for the reply, like i said as close to 12k would be nice there are a few about for that mony and more and i think mine is a minted example, im in no rush to sell and im testing the water.your reply is what i was looking for,it puts things into perspective. cheers again mate

Ermm, stating the obvious, if you only bought it 5 weeks ago, why don't you advertise it for the price it was advertised for by the previous owner and be willing to accept the price you paid the previous owner? If you're cheeky you could add a couple of extra quid for the revo map.

I was thinking the same, surely its still worth what you paid for it just over a month ago? Maybe add an extra £200 for the remap.

thanks very much for your positive comment, i was hoping for this kind of reaction.

if your looking for a staight answer to a simple question you have asked, which im sure you are
i would say like a few other have, put it back up for what you paid for it plus a couple of hundred quid and listen to sensible offers
most people will tell you the same thing when it comes to mods and that is youll never get back what you paid for them so you may have to swallow the price of the remap.
its not the best time to be selling cars but good luck with the sale

its like playing the lottery out there at the mo , saw a 56 reg R32 at a dealers for 15k so 12k for a 52 S3 seems a little high. I know its low milage and good condition but I think someone had a 52 with 80 odd k on it for 7500 so 4.5k for 50000 miles less is ok but I know what people would probally choose.

Just a really bad time for selling cars, hardly anything is shifting loking at the garages. Id like to think a 52 S3 is worht 12k as I own one but I think mine (54000 miles) is now only worth 8k max and is also in mint condition. I wouldn`t sell it for that but If I was looking to sell thats all I could realisticly get for it.

bummer I know but thats the way things are at the momemnt :(

I know I'm just echo'ing what others have said but £12k is a little high, although slightly extreme I saw a dealer on Pistonheads about 3 weeks ago selling an 03 plate 37k miles nogaro blue S3 for £8,995, resale value isnt as much as it was. (I should know I put a £500 deposit down on a £15k S3 then realised they would drop shortly and backed out)

i know what you and thespacecowboy are saying i paid nearly 12k for the car and was hopeful of getting the majority of it back, but like you say i'd be lucky due to the financial situation, my friend just bought his s3 from glasgow audi for £11600 with 47k on the clock so they are shifting. just need to hold out and see how it goes, im willing to listen to offers anyway.

cheers mate with these kind of posts its making me reconsider selling. needs must

so if the dealer is selling at less than you as a private sale you will have no chance of getting that sort of money back think if your really in need if the cash is for personal isues you will have to drop to around 9.5k, you might have got more if it was a desirable colour but its only silver with black leather imaffraid

my mates car is of lesser spec than mine and with 11k miles more than mine.im looking for between 11.5k-12k for the car which is roughly the price my mate paid for his so i dont think mine is to wide of the mark.

cheers

you will find red, yellow and silver cars will be harder to shift than other colours to be honest unless someone is looking for that exact colour

The problem is that you've added another owner to it which lowers the value instantly. Aside from that these really have dropped in value in the last 6 months, for £12k I would want a really special example...good luck with the sale though.

im the second owner so i wouldnt have thought it would lower by much, i do understand where you are coming from hopefully i get near to my asking price.i would consider the condition of my car to be special thats why i paid so much for it and thats why i think it merits its value.

cheers for the post and thanks

why is that,i always thought silver was desirable, i have had a few silver cars most recently my impreza, when it was clean it looked stunning, only colours i would go for other than that would be black or gunmetal gray that might just be personal prefrence.i hope someone is looking for a minted s3 because that is what my car is.

cheers again

if you ask the dealer then silver is the colour they want as its the easy one to sell, they always say other have a sale factor but when you talk to them out of a sale condition they all want silver or black as they are easy to shift on. Agrred there are more about so maybe more choise. The yellow ones are the hard one as not many people want them (except the smller % who think they are the bees knees)

thats what i like to hear.

lol

It would be great if you got that price for it matey, but (and I know these are in a different league and harder to sell) you can pick up a tidy 03/53 RS6 with reasonable miles for around the 15k mark now. 6 months ago you'd be lucky to see one under 20K. Its crazy the way car values are lately!
