Finally got it together and assembled it for him so that I could create the assembly manual. Sent it to him at the beginning of the week, only problem he has dissapeared.

Anyone know when he is due back, I really want to get the installation manual completed and need some pics.

Assembly manual here http://racediagnostics.com/cms/uplo...ics S3-A3 _8L_ assembly manual rev 1_00 .pdf
I think it looks sweeeet.

how d you control the liquid S3? Is the single button a joy stick of some sort? Otherwise I dont see how you choose between scrolling or selecting an option!

It does look very cool though. I would try one, but I am led to believe the functions are limited on an older AGU engine

What a brilliant device!!!!!!!

Very much like a Cossie SECS monitor, that ive had in previous cossies...

Will this run,ALL features on ALL S3`s???

Pete...

Pete...

It is designed for the 1.8T 8L platform, the number of features that will work depends on the actual sensors implemented on the car and the data that is reported by the engine management.

Not all cars have an exhast temp and oil temp sensor, and I have heard that some early Golf MK4 cars don't report boost, not sure if this is the case on the S3

However it is easy enough to check what you will get if you have a vag-com cable. If vag-com can see the data then it will work on the liquidS3.

If anyone knows of a comprehensive list of what vag-com can and can't see on the various S3 models it would be great to see it.

my early 1.8T AGU engine is the same as that fited in the early golfs.

It has no oil temp sensor, EGT, or map sensor. The system runs entirely from MAF and Lambda values.

Without these sensors, can the liquid S3 still show the power and torque graphs? Am I right in thinking the power figures is based on the Maf/0.8 rule?

It's a shame it can't show boost on earlier engines, as I'd love to have a digital boost gauge in the vent!

All S3's have a map sensor I believe, so boost figures shouldn't be a problem on any S3.

Cool! I want one!

£170 is a lot of money but looks the dawgs bawls!

Would be worth it I think!

Is there anyway of getting one of these made for the centre vent of an S3? I only seem to see the outter vent! :(

Also, if anyone has pictures of this fitted to their S3 I'd like to see it! Seems to be shown on TT's mainly. :)

Seems to be compatible with THESE cars warleydaddy. :) Oil temp seems to be the only thing that doesn't work if the lists are correct?

£170 is not a lot of money for the functions it offers. I'd have on in a shot if I didn't have the AGU engine.

To get these sorts of features with after market gauges and senders you'd be looking at well over £500+++++. I've looked into it.

Wow! I never realised they were that expensive! I was comparing it to VAG-COM prices!

Any idea on whether they offer a complete single unit, instead of an exchange for the unit? It would be nice to be able to get them to install the whole unit as I'm a clutz when it comes to things like this! Especially with fiddly little plastic things!

If it comes as a whole unit, which I cannot see from the website, I'm having one for christmas! :D

Yes, all I need for power and torque are MAF and revs.

All S3's have a map sensor I believe, so boost figures shouldn't be a problem on any S3.

Is that a contradiction or am I missing something?

The AGU engine was fitted to the 1.8T golf and A3. S3 engines are APY AMK and BAM codes.

All S3 engines have map sensors.

The AGU is a 150bhp engine fitted with a tiny ko3 turbo as standard

The AGU is an older and far more simple version of the 1.8T engine.

The liquid looks like an awesome product, it's just a shame people with older cars cannot make use of all the functions. Still, that is beyond your control!

Yes, we can do any vent.

I think I have got to the bottom of the issue with oil temp on the S3, the oil temp info comes from the dash board, it turns out that the S3 dash board comms runs at a different baud rate to the TT dash. Should be easy to fix now.

Ahh, I get it now.

Nuri is the first one to have one fitted in a vent and ready to go, the problem is he is on holliday somewhen and I'm not sure when he is back.

Hope we will get some good pics from him when he is back.

Yes, we can do any vent.

Ah, do you work for Race Diagnostics? :)

If you get to the bottom of it I'd be very much interested! Is it possible for you to estimate a ball park figure for the whole complete unit with the liquidS3, inc fitting if you do that?

On my many trips down to Glasgow/Cumbria I'm sure I could pop by your HQ! :)

Cheers,

Odie!

Well, I am racediagnostics, and HQ is my garage at the moment.

The kit is £170 and the vent is £35. As an introductory offer I can do the assembly for you gratis, its a 10 minute job but a bit fidely.

Installation, I can give you a few pointers but have never pulled a S3 vent out myself, only ever done TTs but I assume it won't be too difficult.

I am hoping that when Nuri is back I will get some pics from him to put together the installation manual. Will be much easier than the golf install here http://racediagnostics.com/cms/uploads/images/pdfs/Racediagnostics%20GOLF%20Mk4%20installation%20manual%20rev%201_00.pdf

If you want to go ahead please be aware that you will need to send your vent ahead to be adapted. I have a guy who does the filling, flating and painting.

Wow! From your website I thought you were much bigger! :)

Would adapting the vent cost the same for the centre console? I'm very very tempted I have to admit! Looks a very good piece of kit!

I will have a look either this weekend or next weekend when I have a free hour to look at taking the vent off and let you know! :)

Some pictures would definitely be a decider too but from your guide it looks like it would slot in nicely anyway! :)

So from the engine codes formentioned, out of your full list of things the Liquid does, what wouldnt work on my V `99 S3... How do i find out my engine code?? Bare in mind,im new to the S3 game,as ive come out of 6years with Cosworths...:ermm:

Pete...

i don't own an s3 but on the 1.8t you take off the plastic engine cover and you can see the engine code stamped onto the engine,at the front to the left on my engine

OK, I think yours will be an APY, which is so far untested.

I have the following results from tested cars

AudiS31.8T AMK2002No Oil TempAudiS31.8T BAM2003No Oil Temp

What we need is a friendly soul wiwth and apy car and a vag-com lead to tell us what thaey can and cant see.

If there is anyone in the fife/edinburgh area with an APY, it would be great to have a quick meet to test it out.

PS I have now solved the "no oil temp" issue and just need a car to test it out on.

Well if anyone has Vag Com,and is in the Birmingham/West Mids area, and wants to try on my car, there more than welcome to have a go...

Anybody????

Pete...

Ooh, another Brummy in the Forum, keep an eye out for Midland Meets in Coventry on Wednesdays bud. ;)

Oi,oi,oi!!!!!!!

Black country boy!!!!! Not Brummie!!!!!! Hahaha..

Il keep my eyes peeled..

Pete..

Hi i have a 2000 a3 quattro 1.8t ajq code, any features not supported for this car?,also do you have a new style s3 facelift vent already done, ready to ship with display fitted?Cheers Andy

Hi you won't get oil temp or exhaust gas temp.

I have only been doing exchanges on the vent to ensure I don't do the wrong type/style etc.

Ok,just looked,and ive got APY.....

So can anybody in the area whos got Vag Com please plug it in,and see what can and cant work on my car...

Pete...

Really wanna get this sorted now,as i do fancy 1,and do wanna help you out by testing it,so you know it would work on other models, but dont wanna buy 1,if its not going to have full facilitys on it... Can anybody help???

Pete...

I've got a 2000MY APY S3 (there are some that had analogue clocks so they might be different again). I'm happy to check anything that would help on VAG-Com but I've got no idea what block oil temp might be, any ideas on what to look for?

I'd be interested if this can really tell me oil temp as I'm always worried mine gets ****** hot.

Well I'm back, and I have the vent.... It looks just as good, if not better in the flesh I might add and I can't wait to get it fitted. I was hoping that I would get a chance to do it tonight but unfortunately not. It'll have to be the weekend now. I'll be sure to get some pics up when it is sorted.

Jim, I'll make sure I get you lots of pics too of the fitting, and get them over to you. Thanks for the loan of the Leon gauge for the Ring it's a great peice of kit. I lost the power and torque at the end of the holiday, but now realise that that was down to the fact that I seem to have done in the MAF while away. Oh well, that's another thing to add to the list of repairs....

Nuri
