so they are still quoting $8.95 for shipping when they are clearly aware that it will be $27.

You'd wonder if it is just a scam to get you to buy it knowing that they can hit you for the shipping down the line.

I've had nothing yet - but if I do get the extra charge I'll fight it all the way.

On this basis there's nothing stopping a company quoting "free delivery on your new gigantic conservatory !" and then invoicing you £1,000 four weeks later because they "made a mistake".

Its neither legally enforceable nor ethical.
 
Marc, I had a similar thing happen to me with Lamin-x, but not so bad. I paid them $64.80 on 1st Sept for the Lamin-x, protector, spray bottle and postage but on 10th Sept, they took out another $4 without any warning or contact for what I don't know!

I hardly use my credit card so I don't know the in's and out's of what can and can't be done, but surely they can't take money off someone's card without their permission can they?
 
yeah, they can't make an unauthorised transaction - especially on an expired credit card which is what they did on mine.

they seem to have the credit card details and are able to manually process them rather than using an online payment service.
 
Marc's right & its actually same for anywhere no one can authorise a card without the owners permission & requires a what we know as signatory on the account aswell, so you could effectively say the transaction wasnt authorised & the CC company will either not pay or use legal action to recover no matter what the value, whats funny is my ex missus when she worked in the US used to use her boss's CC for the supermarket with her pin etc & thay complain about fraud so much over there, I wonder YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, lol & apparently its common practise
 
I got hit with an extra $3 a few days after they billed me the advertised $61.80 - no email or anything about it, just got deducted off my credit card?! Not sure if it's worth chasing up or not given it's only $3. Might email them to ask what the hell they're doing!
 
But why is everyone getting different amounts charged extra if paid same prices for parts???

I think the powers that be at Audi would prefer you to refer to it as AWD. I know the Bentley guys have this view about the GT and Flying Spur. I know because one of them made a point of correcting me every time I referred to 4WD while out on test in a GT.

no... you've misunderstood.... the first time I called it 4WD he pointed out that the bods back at HQ wouldn't be too impressed to hear it called that, so I kept referring to it as 4WD and he kept saying AWD - it was more of a running joke than anything else.
 
MarcQuinlivan is correct, for a Subaru its AWD, some Imprezas had stickers on the back window with AWD on. Know all mine did! Bentley is the same they prefer AWD - make it less sound like a traditional 4x4 SUV.

as were some of my comments, still my comments stand if I were testing a car like that I dont need some poxy salesmen telling me what head office would frown upon, they'd frown more upon him saying that & making me walk thats for sure, I dont go to buy a car to hear that ****** I go there to buy a car

yeah, you're right. it was just some light hearted banter in my case, but yeah, the last thing you want is someone telling you what's what. A bit like when you pop into PC World or somewhere similar to pick up something you need in a hurry and can't wait for delivery from an online store. I sometimes take the **** and start asking the sales guy stupid questions just to see how he'll react. stuff like how many megawatts the hard drive is and referring to gigahertz as jigahertz (BTTF reference!).

I did get the Bentley guy's point though - they would see 4WD as a bad thing because they don't want to be put in the same category as a Jeep\Off roader. I still refer to it as 4 wheel drive though, because the uninitiated won't understand what AWD means.
 
Well it looks like Lamin-x have tried to charge an extra $4 to my credit card to cover the postage. Egg thought it was fraud so rang me, confirmed that I had not authorised the transaction and stopped by card.
So I wonder if my order will turn up or not ? If not its call Egg up time and get them to chase it up.
Now if Lamin-x had contacted me and said we made a mistake I would accept this but I find the way they have doe this wrong !

I suspect that what is happening is that they ship the stuff out when your card is first charged and then once it has been shipped and they get the invoice from the post office they charge you whatever the extra was.

I'd say your order has already been dispatched at this stage. If you don't get it by the end of next week send them a mail asking where it is, but don't mention that your credit card company stopped the additional payment.

Yes like the yellow fogs - bet if all cars had to have fogs in yellow would see less idiots driving with sidelights on fogs on (when its not foggy !)

Got my Lamin -x yesterday - not had time to fit it yet but just done a quick dry fit to check- has everyone else found the same that the film seems to be about 1 possibly 2 mm too small in all directions - length of the headlight especially ?
Anyone fancy helping fit them for beer tokens or beer ?

You need to warm and stretch it to get it to fit perfectly, holding them up dry they do look too small :)
 
yeah, unroll it and stick it in the hot press to warm up for an hour or so before you apply it. I started at the wing edge and worked towards the grille. Make sure you get the top of it lined up properly so you can't see the line with the bonnet closed.
 
Cheers for that - was going to try and centre it and stretch it both ways, makes more sense to line it up one side.

The shipping should have been $27, and they'll try to claim the rest off your card at a later date without getting the payment authorised. You should maybe advise your credit card company they they've been up to this with other people and maybe they can put a note on your account for when it comes through.
 
I orderd mine on the 23rd oct & it was shipped on the 31st oct, it's not arrived as yet, should it take that long?, how long did it take to arrive for those of you who orderd it?
 
Having read through this thread, im very interested in fitting lamin-x to my healights and fog lights, and side repearters if im feeling brave enough to cut the film myself. Has everyone who has purchased so far gone for the tint?? Has anyone fitted gunsmoke or smoke?? Or would this be far too dark??
 
anyone noticed the lamin x fog lights are a completly different shape to the Sline fog lights?!!!
