Hi all ,

I ordered some plates from http://www.dubmeister.co.uk/

This is the first place to sell the legal metal pressed plates . These are 100% legal on the road . You have to send your documents off to them to get the plates . I have got to say the service was amazing i send off one day then they made the next and received the plates the following day and they look great and are fully legal .

Exactly how illegal is it to use 'show plates' maybe something like german font and just the reg with no band? i know if its illegal its illegal no matter how much you try to make it legal.
Is it endorsable? do the police really tend to enforce this?

Simple as if you use show plates ,

You will get a fine and yes they will pull you over ,

i got the legal ones as they are 100% legal

i will also say the ervice is great from these guys.... i had my plates well over a year ago before they were being advertised as street legal... i just picked them that way. I also like the option of gettin the german audi dealership surround with them, which makes the plates easily swappable....if you happen to have two sets of plates... same reg.... uk font and german font.... if you did get stopped just say to the police you forgot they were on (just been too a show) and you can swap them now. most will avoid the paper work and agree.

so you have illegal ones then ?

as long as the backing is reflective I dont see there being an issue as the rest of the format looks ok

might go and get a set tomorow. never been a fan of anyhting dodgy on plates (fonts etc) but will go for GB and uk font should be ok...

i don't agree ,

They look great i have had so many comments since i put them on the old plates looked rubbish .

I think pressed plates suit older "euro" style cars. MK2 golfs for example. They don't seem to look right on the A3 for some reason.

The police be out in force where i am and i havent been stopped once with these plates but probably cos i dont drive like the boy racers where i am. I think my plates make a world of difference and everyone i know has commented saying they really suit.:thrashi:

looks cool,,, you got any more pics mate? as they are the ones ive ordered

also looks like i will get some surrounds as they do look nice. Can anyone recommend a way to fix on the surrounds? My current plates are stuck on...

Will the holes be there to screw on the surround or would it be better to stick the surrounds straight on with double sided tape then slide the plates in?

Cheers

Its a sad day when a number plate construction makes or breaks a cars looks.
Nik.

lol.... when u get the surrounds you will see how to fit them with screws too the bumper and boot.... but you may want to use the double sided tape on the rear plate to fit the plate into the surround as with mine I have a sub in the boot and the base makes the plate vibrate in the surround.

Still don't like the surrounds looks better plain...

im not sure whether to go with surrounds... havent seen any pics yet with pressed plates but without surrounds

Quick question i got mine today and all seems pretty simple and will fit them at the weekend....

The surrounds come apart at the bottom and clips together to secure the plate... but once its on the car how do you get the plate off?

Cheers

Just unclip it !

Im not sure if its possible to fit the metal plates without the surround... i guess you could use double sided tape or ruin them by drilling through... problem with that though is gettin the plates to run with the shape of the bumpers

Its easy you don't need a surround. Just use the proper sticky backings. They are a great fit and look great no messing about with screws etc
