My car been STOLEN

This has got me thinking. Maybe will put my ancient big yellow disk lock thing on my car now since it sits about 6 days of the week now.

If there are any key burglars 'shopping' on this site they are quite welcome to come and attempt to aquire my keys - they are kept by my bed, next to my trusty 6-cell maglite. My dog would love to meet you too, she has a penchant for scumbag testicles...

Gutted for you Doc, I'll keep my eye out around the Leeds / Manchester area.

there is a lot of this about at the moment, friend had rs4 stolen about a month back and one of the audi garages i do work for said in my area at least three they know of had gone an s3, a6 and a tt all high power stuff, all were nicked with keys after break ins, but it is easy to get hold of new key programmed with your code unfortunately.if you do want to guard against it cover up the chassis number on your windscreen with tape or something as they need this to get copy keys made

really feel for you its not nice when it happens you keep looking out and expecting it to be there, will keep eyes peeled and pass on details

:wtf: Is it that easy for them to get a copy key??

picture the scene you work in a dealers in say spain and a bloke walks in hes lost the keys to his nice new audi and is stuck on holiday he has the chassis number and reg he also has a passport and drivers licence. so you order a new key and code it for him so the nice man can continue on his holiday. meanwhile he posts the key to his mate who comes round your house and drives off in your car. all you need is chassis number and reg and some false id(not hard for criminals to get), difficult in this country but not impossible but relatively straight forward in Europe.

i also mentioned my mate who had his rs4 stolen. police reckon he was followed home from work in liverpool then broke into his house.really secure upvc back door. opened in less the 2 mins with blowtorch. they found his car in scotland by accident after a drugs bust after two months he got it back and it cost the insurance company 10k to put it right (wheels tyres bit of bodywork)

yes its all scary but if you drive anything out of the ordinary then always look for suspicious people following you of showing an interest in your car. but personally if someone was that determined to get my car i would let them as a car can be replaced but if after you try to stop them you end up hurt it not worth it

Its not that easy at all, cause when a new key is coded for your car on audi's you have to code it with the ecu, speedo & existing keys if have, you cant walk into a stealer & ask for a spare key at all, no matter what ID you have, all the codes are matched to the car, they cant match without the car linked to germany now aswell, you have to have your car with the new key, if you match a new key without the existing keys then the existing keys are useless until coded again back at the stealers with the new key aswell, so no you can only code with the car not seperately.

Even pro key guys still need your car they cant match without the car.

As the codes are always changed when locked its never the same so even remote signal readers are almost impossible to steal a car with like in the newer Gone In 60 Seconds

This is why car keys are stolen from houses, carjackings or even lorry lifted now

I clicked on the title on another forum, I was stunned to find it was your car. Sorry to hear about your car mate.

Ye your right here, the ECU has to be bound to the key, you dont buy a key specificaly for your VIN number, you just buy a key for that model of car, and the dealers computer (or vagcom) programs the key to the ecu.
Vagcom cant be put into programming mode without the skc code and although you can pull that out of the ECU with the right hardware, you need a programmed key to do it afaik

If you knew the car well and had the time, you could take along an engine ecu and immo unit (on later a4's this means you'd need the ECU and speedohead) and use a key matched to those ecu's to start it, that still leaves getting inside the car, removing the steering lock, and actually swapping the ECU's before you can drive off.

Won't stop it going on the back of a truck though!

Yeah I know, my car parks under a shelter though and would be tight getting the lorry postitioned infront of the car to try and drag it up. I doubt anyone would go to the trouble for my car though to be honest. But the disk lock thing cant do any harm I guess, just looks so stupid though.

So the only way Docs could of gone is by being lifted on to the back of a truck right enough and then they have plenty time to find a way to get it going or at least in to it?

I know this probably isn't the case, but could have some over zealous parking/clamping company removed it and not got round to informing you Dave ? Or was it parked up at home ?

The same thing happened to mine, the police gave me a number to call, a national database of all towed-away vehicles. they didn't have mine.

bad luck mate, that ******* sucks.

i know from personal experience that the spare key scam will only work with certain cars, and makes. had a customer with a lexus lost all keys including master i went to main stealer in this country quite happily supplied me with a spare remote key that opened the doors and turned ignition on. but did then require coding to defeat the immobiliser. but it did disarm the alarm. all makes are different yes audis are tricky but if you have a key to get in then can be recoded at your leisure. older cars are easier but newer ones are harder hence stealing the keys is always the easier option.

if someone is clever enough to think of a security measure then there is always someone else clever enough to find a way round it.

having a car stolen is a gutting experience that no one should have to go through the scumbags should have their hands cut off

I aint going to say Im gutted for you Doc because thats an Understatement!
My mate told me about it earlier and I was shocked!

SO lets get this right, your car was parked on a street, Quiet one? Didnt anyone around see a car getting lifted? dunno where else but seeing a car here lifted in leicester is very rare and when it does happen, it causes quite an Audience.

The CCTV has already been mentioned.
What about your alrm, was it motion sensored?

I know it aint really relevant now because they already have your motor but it just astonishes me that a truck can come along and just pick your motor up without anyone seeing or hearing anything, Day or night unless like I say, it was one of them quiet back end streets.

Whoever took it aint gonna be daft enough surely to drive it around or even attempt on changing the identity because its Unique aint it.

Reality is mate its probably in peices already, hope not though.
All the Work thats gone into it especially the bodywork.
Fcuking annoys me that there are many out there that think its ok to come along and take your pride and joy, takes the ****.
Aint even worth mentioning what you'd do if you caught up with them.

How does it stand with your insurance Doc?
I take it you insured it with all your mods?
Ive known a few to not

No CCTV in this street or near by and here in London cars being lifted is a common thing here so no one cares.

The car was insured with all the mods as there was no way I could have got round that with the amount of mods on my car.

Hi,

I am down in South Norwood, so will keep my eyes peeled for anyone stupid enough to drive it round here.

Oh my God... I feel for you buddy... it does sound like it was a planned job to me maybe worth asking a few neighbours in the area if they saw anything suspicious over the last few days... I live in Chiswick W.London so will defo keep my eyes out for anything.

Holy ***** bags! Gutted for you Doc, can't imagine how you're feeling. If it's one thing that angers me beyond anything it's people messing with another mans car, let alone stealing the ****** thing!

Of course I'll keep an eye out for you, lets just hope she turns up in one piece.

There was a story floating around various forums of a highly modified A4 cabriolet on air-ride, porsche wheels etc that was paid for by a dodgy cheque and disappeared, but due to the many good guys on the various forums around the world it was found fairly untouched on a dock in Belgium if I remember rightly, ready to be shipped to somewhere in the middle east, the guy got it back safe and sound. So anything's possible. Everything's crossed for you Doc.

It's been found, but I'll leave the details to Doc.

:wtf: Is it that easy for them to get a copy key??

I work at a stealer and getting a key is not easy without ID's and proof of ownership. Getting the key isn't really the problem.....having it coded to the car is harder as the key and car need to be together.

To order a key we need to see Log Book (with current address)
Photo identification (Drivers licence with matching address)
Utility Bill (again with matching name and address)

The key arrives blind (uncoded for security) we then get the customer to bring the car in (with any spare keys) and we code everything with a new code.

Not being big headed but I told you so, lol, also dealer doesnt see the code at all, link to germany now for all keys I believe.

Man, only just saw this - what is going on with people these days?

Glad its back, hope its in one piece Dave. Let us know how you get on.

Jeez. I got to this one a little bit late...

Firstly, sorry to hear the news that it went missing doc; secondly, glad it's turned up, and I sincerely hope it's unharmed fella!

All the best,

Rob.

So where did it end up ?

Local-ish.

But, it's completely destroyed, don't really feel in the mood to impart details, not sure Doc'll be ready for that either.

Really feel his pain.

bar stewards & why, just for fun

Siena thanks for the update! it doesnt sound to good the way you described it!

the W***kers that did it need to be caught and have there hand chopped off!

doc im gutted for you, thant was jst pure vandalism, they took what was easy to remove and just trashed the rest just so they knew you couldnt do anything with it when you got it back, and i guess its a right off now

what have they doen to the paint work? it looks like it been sandblasted or something

makes me so angry that there are complete w**kers like this about who are purely jealous of other people

im guessing you have no clues to who it may have been.......the police certainly wont have or wont care

id chop their sodding hands or that would be for starters at least

Bro, I wish I hadn't seen these pictures.

I'd rather she hadn't been found, really feeling your pain.

Was all that stuff in the car when you arrived there?

Really sorry to see that fella. You just have to believe in karma and what goes around...

It wont make you feel any better though at the moment. My old car was broken into a few years ago, glass everywhere, CD player gone, CD's gone, concert tickets i had in the glovebox gone. Man... i was so ******. But...sh!t happens and you just gotta deal with it sometimes.
Hoping the insurance pays out a fair amount for you. Nothing worse than getting doubly shafted by them as well.

mindless kn*bheads why do they think its cleaver to do that?

i know your gutted but when ready place an inventory and description of whats gone that way if anything turns up ebay forums etc or someone sees similar bits on a car you might still stand a chance of catching these vermin scum

Was hoping you would get a happy ending to this.
My friend had kids ride mountain bikes over his celica recently thought that was bad but this?
Thats just sick, what a waste.

You put a lot of time into that, really feel for you
