Guys,

Just over a year ago, I started out modding my A3 with an MTM stage I remap and I was in Audi heaven. Lots of torque with good power up top. Perfect...Until the next mod...

Months went by and I started adding things to my A3 almost every month. (an all too familiar story) and I forgot about doing things to the ECU to match the other upgrades (Turbo back exhaust, Air Intake, Turbo Outlet ...) Until my garage (a revo dealer of course) asked me if I was interested in replacing the MTM stage I with a Revo stage II....

Within an hour I had the car back. I didnt look under the hood but I swear they replaced my engine with something else...

Changes below 2000RPM is minimal but in gradients where I usually need to downshift from a high gear, it now feels like its a bigger engine with more torque and I can keep my gear.

Above 2000RPM, the turbo and the exhaust note feels louder and pulls like MAD. My 6 pot brembo has met its match! Smooth, linear power delivery with even stronger acceleration.

I would highly recommend guys who have done the basic remap first (bluefin, MTM Stage I, ... Other stage I remaps) but have added other mods to upgrade their ECU as well. Brings new life to your car!!

I'm intrigued with the dsg petrol what they report as the power of the upgrade now.

I'm currently trying to decide between getting GIAC or REVO for my 2.0T in a couple of weeks. You've just made my decision harder.

Any ideas on power output now?

What kind of power is the REVO putting out now?

I was tempted on upgrading my bluefin for REVO, i wonder if Superchips will do a bluefin 'stage 2' remap!

Gareth - I should have the plots from my car and S3 Saf's soon so will give you an idea of the difference in the way GIAC and REVO perform on an S3 with no other mods than the map.
Might help you're decision.
Various people have said the Revo is more aggressive in ti's delivery compared to the GIAC, which is smoother.
I wanted a nice smooth delivery so I went GIAC (don't get mewront, you're still pinned in your seat when you floor it!), but if you want the more aggressive feel when the turbo comes on boost go Revo.
I think we've already established that when it comes to the headline figures Revo and GIAC delivery pretty similar numbers so I guess it's all down to the way it's delivered.

Just my opinion mate

After the excellent treatment that Regal showed us all on saturday and after your second run, I felt sure that Regal & GIAC were the way forward.

However, Andy has nothing but praise for REVO and showed some excellent results in his S3.

I missed out on the REVO treatment on my Golf 1.8T (opting for a cheaper map at the time) and had looking back, kinda regretted it.

But then I like the way regal & GIAC can tailor the map all with mods way the way up to RS/S level (which is the dream - if the front wheels and DSG can handle it)

Would be interesting to see the comparisons between the plots of your car and S3 Safs.

Gareth, with all the mods I have now, its expected at about 270-280whp. Will be going to a Rolling Road very soon to verify this.

Robin,

I would suggest that you get an exhaust and an intake mod before the stage 2 to take advantage of the improvments.

Personally I think both Revo and GIAC are good choices as there are so many cars out there with these remaps. I went for REVO because of the better service of my local dealer and more people here use REVO. Also, a very important point is that REVO only charges the difference if you want to upgrade your remap.... I am addicted and will go for the stage III very soon:)

Hope this helps!!

270-280WHP on a K03?? Maybes crank HP.. Not WHP..

Why didnt you go back to MTM to ask for a new map?

My concern about where you are at is the ability of the DSG to handle the power. Yes they now offer DSG/Stronic on the S3, but my guess is that it has been upgraded. When DSG first came out there were lots of concerns about too much torque and various people chose a manual car because of this.

What guarantee's have you if your box gives up the ghost?

Not putting a downer on it, but anyone can up the boost, but can the car handle it.

There is a guy in the US running 450WHP GT3071R turbo DSG GTI..

He managed to throw a rod out the side of the block without the DSG having any problems.. If that helps lol.. ;) (standard DSG)

The DSG will take up to 400nm (350nm continuous) without any issues. This is from a friend who worked at Audi on the A3 sportsback and S3 project as one of the Engineers. Its the torque that kills the box and not the HP. The new DSG is almost completely new and uses a dry clutch instead of a wet one. The torque limit should be over 500nm making it available for the V8s...

I didnt ask MTM for the remap because I am looking into a K04 eventually and I wanted to use Revo's Stage III to do that. The MTM turbo kit is simply too expensive. Using Revo, I can basically pick the parts off the VAG parts bin and do my upgrade from there.

Not sure... That is what I was told from my garage...If people are experiencing over 220 hp stock at the RR, is 270 that far off after a stage 2 remap and other mods?

If your worried about your DSG, have a look here on the Mk5 section. They do upgraded internals for the DSG box.

Great Find, Decked!

This is the first company I have seen offering such upgrade. But whoa!! EUR 2,800 for 2 gears not including labour... Ouch!

Cool, sounds like thats going to be pretty awesome, I think the S3 with a big turbo and the 7speed DSG box would be pretty impressive!!

Yeah thats what I mean, 270-280 Crank HP.. WHP is HP at the wheels, so +15% on top of the 270-280 figure..

thanks Staz

I have just email Jamie to see if he will do a 'Robin' map!

I don't mind travelling down 150miles to gain a few more ponies!

I have just looked over Superchips website and they have a Stage 2 , 3 and 4 for the 2.0 TFSI engine .
