When removing your side sills to check for rust....invest in a magnetic screwdriver, otherwise the screws disappear into the door itself and rattle around under acceleration and braking!!!

lol, yeah I know this one, what a pain in **** did several times & luckily from previous experiences I knew not to replace the door cards etc when working on without removing the screws as that rattling really ****** you of, so good one fella.

Even with door cards of it can also be a real pain in **** getting the damn screws out as they slide along behind the metal frame, god did that annoy the feck outta me I tell yer, wish I hadnt touched them in the beginning.

It's dead easy. <5 minutes per door. Just remove the screw under the pull handle, a couple more at the top left and right ends of the door card, then lift the card up and off.

The only slightly tricky bit is now, where you need to hold the card up, while disconnecting the electrical plugs, and Bowden cable from the door handle.

Refitting is exactly the reverse.

Mine had rust, I actually removed all the ****** rusty metal & then epoxied the original plastic screw panel back in place then screwed back to the door, cost of replacing the trims & respraying wasnt worth as still looked as good as I wanted anyway.

Yeah door cards come of very easily, dont pull just lift as James has stated & disconnecting the door handle wire & looms is fairly easy, just a balancing act while you take of, lol.

2nd Tip to follow the above, once you have disturbed these screws, they will start to rust and be near impossible to get off should you need to at a later date, so go to Audi and order a set of new screws, they are 28p each! The new screws however, are not magnetic, so they have no iron content and probably won't rust!

muches chaps..... im gonna have to whip the card off this weekend...its pi**ing me off.... jojo if they arent magnetic how do you get them in

oh and rust? what rust.... grrrr actually there are a couple of tiny bubbles which appear to have a small chip mark in the centre..... just cant find an excuse to get the keyed side of my car painted by audi...looks like im gonna have to use my hard earned cash....resent spending more money on a depreciating brick

Audi won't paint it anyway mate, I had corrosion on the bottom of my door and was expecting the car park dint in my door to be fixed, nope, according to audi they will only fix the part that has corroded and nothing else !

I had my door painted up to the bump strip and that was it, fair enough it matches well but I need to stump up the cash for the dint now

I screwed the trim on with the doorcard off! There's no other way, unless you have a steady hand and put some bluetac on the end of the screwdriver.

I must have been well lucky then, I had a whole rear quarter panel resprayed which fixed a previous deep carkey scratch! All under warranty!! Even the guy who detailed my car commented on the nice finish of the paintwork on said panel
