has anyone tried this...

Could you put my name down please:D
Although id also want an exchange vent, and also how easy is it to fit as im not that good with things like that, so if anyone knows where i could get it fitted id appreciate it.
Also does it leave the cable hanging about the place? my car is a 1999 pre face s3.
Looking to buy soon money is ready:D

Also as mine is pre facelift, the centre vent is one big double set as in the left and right centre parts are connected together, so would the vent still be able to be modded for the screen?
Also i think my vag port is under the ashtray so where would i run the cable down? and would it be on show and in the way or would it be hidden and tucked away?

I hate to say it, but please remove me from the list...There is something going on with my A3's suspension at the mo., which is not good...added to that a service is due so count me out for now, but can't wait to see pics...(which may change my mind lol).

fitting for the facelift S3's will be easy, if you open the door and take the panel hiding the fuses off, then once removed you can get to the back of the vent and run the wire down to the obd socket, then it will be up to you if you run the wire all the way round and then have the plug on show all the time or if unclip the socket from the dash and plug it in hidden behind the dash. As for pre facelift i wouldn't know as i've never seen the port on those, hopefully i should have mine early next week so i'll be posting some photos and how to....

I think this is a great bit of kit even if you don't mount it anywhere, for people who don't want to be confused by vag-com this is perfect fault finding piece of kit to keep in you glove box as you can check the most common problems people have, maf, n75, boost pressure and full fault code scan! on top of all that and amongst other probably the one people will like the most is the bhp readings!

Any pics, thinking about putting my name back on the list ..lol

Jim is posting it tomorrow so should have it wed or Thurs but I'll be at work till Sunday so i think Monday will be the fitting day!!

UPDATE... Right got the liquid S3 today!:yahoo:thanks Jim, and also popped in for a chat with Nev.

All i can say is wow, I'm defiantly not disappointed, as for the vent it looks a lot better when it's in your hands, colour match is good too, just a touch darker but hardly noticeable. The one that Nev and Jim took photos of is from a Leon & pre facelift S3, Nev has mine at the moment for fabricating, So I'll take photos when it's finished.

As for fitting i don't think that the cup holder is going to be much of a option, you really do have to cut a fair chunk out of the dash and the piano black trim and you would also have to mount it in front of the PB trim too, unlike the Leon you can mount it behind and use the trim as a surround to the screen. So if you were to do it, you would need a form of pod to mount it in or on over the cup holder hole as the screen's not wide enough, you would also have to make the cup holder hole bigger to, so basically if you were to try it and **** it up, you would be left with a mangled PB trim and also no possibility of putting back the cup holder either. So i think that the vents are going to be the best option, for me anyway, you will keep your dial in the vent too, when to take the vent out you have to cut the wires for the light in the dial then add some extra wire as there's no slack but apart from that this will probably be quite a easy install, one you have the fuse panel off you need cut a hole about a inch 1/2 in diameter in the side of the vent tunnel for the head of the cable to go through but apart from that, by having a quick look today should be easy enough.

The only thing i was slightly disappointed about was you had to turn the screen on/off manually so when you turn the ignition off it stays on, but you cant have everything and it defiantly won't put me off.

If anyone in the Ipswich area wants to see it your more than welcome just give me a message!!

Pictures and a how to should be about next week.

Also I'm going to post a new thread about some of my readings feel fee to have your say!!!

You could probably wire it into the stereo somehow so you get a switch live so it goes off with the stereo when you pull the key out?

Let me try and interpret this. You, in a rebellious manner, were put off?

Sorry i've adjusted it accordingly, it was a bit of a rushed write up, i had the other half breathing down my neck... Common we need to go out..blah blah blah....

I don't think she understands the need of the forum!

I haven't got the vent from Nev yet, he's doing it at the moment, hopefully i might have it done end of next week. i'll get some pictures up then.. Have looked at the other thread, liquid s3 readings? Some of the dyno on there.

Nope I've not even got the vent yet! Nev has been quite busy, but he has just finished it, just need to arrange a time for me to go round get it, I'll post some pictures as soon as i do get it, I'm not 100% sure if I'm actually going to use the vent mount now, but I'll still fit it in so you get the idea,

Has anyone else bought yet? or are you all waiting on pictures??

FYI the Golf one is just finished too. Hurry up wih he pictures.

what's hapening with this gb etc now??

Is the vent for the s3 (facelift) one of the centre vents or a drivers side, (or are there options?)

The Vent made is for the drivers side, I've still not got hold of it due to working lots and Nev working and being away etc... If you want a center vent done PM Nev to see if he can come up with something, as far as i know he has only made side vents the ones that have been done are in Pre -Facelift & Facelift form, Facelift ones with working dial light, but for me now the drivers vent is no longer a option for me, as i wish to keep it, Nev has already turned my vent into a pod for it, so when i get it I'll take some photos to show people but i wont actualy be installing it, although it does look an easy install, and would be able advise if people aren't sure.

dont let the ukmkivs in front of us (he's pushin in, look!) we were here first!! lol

Do we have a coiintact for Nev, he's gone all quiet!! lol

I think I would like centre vent, probably easier to fit too

do we have a gb price ie is there any discount on this?

I see you have the vents on the website. Do you have new centre vent fitment available?

i too might well be interested in one for the centre vent, although how difficult do we think it would be to get the wire to the OBD port from there??

Email me at sales@racediagnostics.com and I'll pass on to Nev, he is ready to take orders.

Fitting on the centre vents on the TT is easy enough.

If you guys get organised with a group buy there will be a 5% discount on the kit itself which is normally £!70 if there are 5 or more orders and a 10% discount if there are 10 or more orders. The price for the exchange vent will remain the same as on the web site.

Finally got some photos!! This is a Facelift vent.

I didn't install the screen as Nev wasn't there he just left the unit out for me, and also i think the Liquid S3 will need trimming to fit in the back of the vent. (see pic)
Also it think that a smaller plug will be needed for the Liquid S3, like the one on the golf forum, as there's not a lot of room inside the flap that closes the vent is in the way, unless you just lose the flap, but then your dial will be all lose and floppy.

guys sorry for the delay with this, it was done a while ago but do to me away alot and sam on shifts never found the rite moment to get it to him ,

hope you all like it, it can be mounted in the centre vent if needed.

How quickly can I gt one of the facelift vents Nev? That look's awesome. I'm off to the ring in a couple of weeks and would love to have it for that.

Does anyone know how much a new vent is for a dealer. i don't want to loose the original vent?

Top work again by the way!!
