I've got a really early flight to catch departs at 6:30am I only have hand luggage, it says I can checkin online and print the boarding pass (Ive never checked in online before). If I checkin online what time do you recon I need to be at airport for ? I take it security etc will accept at print out of a boarding pass, do I just turn up and just go straight to security and the departure gate ? Just seems a bit unsecure I thought you always needed to get the proper boarding pass thing. :wtf:

yeah, you just print it off and basically waltz straight thru to security. Just make sure your barcode is scannable tho... ;)

Ive made a flight up to glasgow by literally parking the car, and then walking on to the plane. Was superb.

Wow sounds cool, i think i will do that in future!!

We were going to do this for our recent trip to Venice, but a problem arises regarding the restriction on fluids allowed in hand luggage of 100ml. If you add up stuff light shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste & I wear contract lenses so need their solutions too your way over, or you take nothing & cant see & stink!! Its a pain in the butt really as saves time by not having hold luggage!

Same here - took a flight a few months back from Heathrow T5 to Manchester and also checked in the night before. Print the pass and away you go.

As for arrival time, I never take any chances and always plan to get to the airport as early as possible, whether for transatlantic, European or UK flights. Allowing extra time covers you for flight changes, parking/terminal transfer problems, heavy traffic, flat tyres, empty fuel tanks - you get the idea. I usually go and eat something at the terminal to pass the time! Also consider that because many airlines over-book the seats, an early check-in leaves that problem to someone else.

NickyNibbles, you allowed up to 100mlx10 in your hand luggage but no single quantity liquid can be over 100ml...

And they must be in clear plastic bags. Most airports supply these.

Well thats a stupid rule in which case, if your a terrorist then you can happily fill up 5 x 100ml tubes of toothpaste with your evil terrorist explosive and still blow a hole in a plane the same as if they let you on with 2 x 250ml tubes!!

Either way never found my sort of contact lens solution in less than 100ml bottles so im still stuck! Not sure they'd be happy me taking hydrogen peroxide into the cabin anyway given its a prime ingredient used by evil sorts to make their evil DIY exposives!!

yeah, it is a stupid rule... just goes to show its another snap decision by someone in an office somewhere.
