My A3 Sportback (170 TDI quattro) has politely reminded me that it would like a first service ... telling me it's due in 20 days or 100 odd miles.

I phoned a local dealer who quoted me £340 inc VAT

For those in Kent/SE London can you recommend a more competitive dealer for servicing?

Thanks in advance!

Christ almighty....

I keep meaning to book mine in for it's 1st service, it's now overdue. Anyway i've just been quoted £195.00 (not sure if this was VAT inclusive or not) by Audi Chesterfield. Even a local independent quoted me £260.00.
Not every dealer is going to get down to £195 but £340+VAT is absolutely outrageous mate.

They are taking the mick. If you shop around with different main dealers you should come in at under £200inc vat with some of them. Its only an oil and filter change with maybe a pollen filter if its 2yrs old.

I was quoted £330 in Glasgow Area which is shocking.

Found a Audi Approved VW dealer who is doing it for £240 which is some saving, still steep but that's what we get for driving these cars I suppose.

Just been re-quoted £225 inc VAT for the variable service but excluding the pollen filter & excluding the 1L oil top-up in the boot.

Sounds more reasonable?

Sounds about right.

I've just had mine done at Heritage Audi in Salisbury, and it cost £260 incl VAT, all in.

That sounds much better!
Have you tried Tonbridge Audi? Probably not much better TBH.

Tried three other dealers - all of whom quoted £340 inc VAT :wtf:

Blimey, sounds like the £250 for 3 years free servicing sounds a must when mine arrives.

Absolutely - which is why I've got it listed with the optional extras on mine. (Ordered 2 months and 1 week ago but still without a confirmed build date :3sadwalk:)

When you take your car in for a service take in the oil with you that will drop the price by a huge amount. Im not sure how much oil they take but 4l of castrol will cost about £45 from halfords and the dealers will charge you about £90-120 for at the most 5l. Get a quote from them before you take it in to see the oil price.

Got my 1st AVS (18k miles) on my 3.2 done at Maidstone Audi last September - £250 plus brake fluid at £100. The only place I found that was cheaper was further into Kent e.g. East Kent Audi in Canterbury as the labour rates were lower. All the parts were the same price. However, driving to Canterbury and back from London borders meant it wasn't worth it. Maidstone have always been very good in terms of customer service in my opinion.

I had my 2.0TFSI first service at Walton Audi(off junction 12 on the M25) and that was only £154. It would only be a little less oil than the 3.2 engine would take as well. Might be worth trying them next time.

Thanks for all the info.

I phoned Maidstone and they wouldn't budge on £340 inc VAT for a 1st variable service.

Reckon I'll try Bexley Audi, who quoted £225 inc VAT.

Just left mine in this morning for a service and have been quoted £270 but mine needs the haldex oil change which (apparently, as the dealer tells me) is required after 20k miles. Im at 16k miles at the moment but he advised me it's better to get it done now???

I would get the haldex done.... If they say every 20K. I got mine done every service on my R as I had the upgraded haldex and I pushed it hard. Better safe than sorry (a new rear diff is pricey!).

Dead right mate. He gave me the choice but i have to agree with you better safe than sorry!!

The quattro transmission oil change is indeed at 20k, but how much extra is it?

Stealers just off the phone to me there........they said they made a mistake and the quattro oil change is only essential after 40k and subsequently if i didnt have it changed the overall cost would be £231.85, so im guessing that the quattro oil change is by my claculations £270 - £231.85 = £38.15.

Does that sound about right?? Im aware that this may vary from other dealerships but they are the figures they quoted me???

Nevertheless im still having the haldex oil change done!

Yes thats roughly the right price and it is indeed 40k miles between changes(earlier haldex was 20k i believe). For info: The rear diff is seperate from the coupling and the oil for that isnt changed when the haldex oil is changed.
