Slow puncture!!!

Yesterday on my trip up to star performance i got a small puncture at 80 mph, i didnt actually realise that it had gone flat for about 5 miles or so other than the cats eyes felt a bit harsher, but once bits started pinging off i thought something must be wrong so pulled over to find this.....

Its nice to know how safe these motors are, even with a completely knackered tyre it was pretty stable at 90mph

Anyhow i got 2 new goodyear eagle f1 aysametrics fitted this morning so all is sorted.

Aye i was amazed that the alloy wasnt damaged, id have had to fit some 19's then
The tyre that was on it was a bridgestone reo5oa, we spotted a puncture mark in the tread this morning tho when changing it so it wasnt like a blown side wall or anything so the tyre isnt to blame, it just ended up like that from doing 90 on it flat for a few miles.

Strangely the alloy that the damaged tyre was on was perfectly in balance with no weights fitted when i got the goodyears fitted this morning

There is apparantly a way this can be done.

Alloys have a mark on the somewhere indicating where there is a slightly flatter edge and where the heaviest and lightest spots are. tyres ahve exactly the same using colour coded spots. By matching them up you can get a whell in ebtter balance striaght away. It's not a guranteed way of getting everything perfercly in balance, just gets it closers so less weight needs adding.

I used to notice when my S-line's tyres went down by a few psi, because the handling just went way off.
No puncture warning system on the S3 then, evidently.
Is it an option?

I did notice in a fashion but only because of the sounds it was making going over cats eyes and a slight buzz now and again which could have easily been the road surface plus it was a mainly straight bit of mway and i wasnt making any sharp movements. I have learned what to listen for if i get a puncture on the mway now tho, loud cats eyes,lol.

Aye tell me about the smell, i had to do another 150 miles on the space saver so i had the original wheel in the boot and it ****** stunk ive been round the car with airfreshener today lol.
as far as the aysametrics go im not going to comment yet as ive only done 10 miles or so on them and plus the garage had under inflated them by 5psi

Although I suppose you'd just have phoned Audi roadside?
I've just got mousse and a compressor in my car.
All very well, provided the tyre's structure is intact....
It's not something I used to think about, but I will make sure my next purchase has runflats or a spare.

Is the Alpina not on Ran flats bowfer?
At a guess because they want to get rid of the unsprung weight???

Alpina's and M models don't use the run flats. I ditched them on mine. I've got a compressor and some gunk in the garage just in case... I know I know what good is it in the garage!

This car seems to be picking up punctures more than any other I've ever owned. Always the rears as well.

I'm also picking up punctures at an alarming rate.
Over £200 a tyre too (nearer £300 for a rear)
No runflats, they ditch them to improve the ride/handling/unsprung weight.
Several owners say Porsche spacesavers fit, using H+R spacers.
Too much hassle and expense for my liking though.

My tyre warning beeped the other day, I spent ages looking at the tyres for nails/screws and also checked the tyre pressures, nothing out of the ordinary to report. So I had a steady drive home and plugged in the vagcom. Turns out there was a 1 km/h speed difference between the front and rear wheels as I had two new fronts fitted recently. If you had it fitted it may have given you a bit more notice as it appears to be quite sensitive.
