Alright guys...

As the title really. I need to know how much an 18 inch 7 spoke OEM S3 alloy wheel weighs.
Basically i've got a mate with an S3 and he's looking at aftermarket wheels but doesn't want to add any weight to the car.
He'll be taking them off his car and i'll be buying them so i'm trying to hurry him into picking some!

Anyway, i was hoping one of you wise men would have the answer!

Thanks in advance. Appreciated as usual :beerchug:

Paul.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the weight is to include the standard Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres!

I 'think' they are around 14.5kg, my Speedlines are 7.8kg, it makes a big difference!

The oem S3 wheels weight around 12,5 kg and the OZ ultraleggera weight under 8 kgs like the speedlines.

I was thinking about OZ ultraleggera but for S3 they are only in silver color... and I wanted mattgraphit or white.

Do some of you have picture of S3 with 18' OZ ultralegera?

Can't help with the weights, but one question - are you putting the S3 wheels on the TT-S?

No, the S3's will be going on my S-Line because i'm getting the RS6's refurbed then selling them. I recon i'll be pushing the boat out and hopefully getting some Volk Progressiv ME's for the TT-S

Mate, have a look at a current thread called 'decisions decisions'. I've posted several pics of Ultraleggera's on an Imola Yellow S3.

Anyway guys, thanks very much for the info. It's quite an eye opener what a weight difference there is in wheels. My car feels slower with a full tank of petrol so i'd imagine by slashing the weight of the rims there's a considerable pick up in performance...

The new CX-r`s are around the 10kg mark, dependant on the offset size etc.

The new Anthracite CX-r is proving a top seller.

OEM 18x7.5 wheels in twin 7 spoke design (RS4 style) + 225/40 Conti SportContact 2 inflated to 2.6 wheighs 22 kg.

I have sold a few sets over the years of the OZ Supereggeras and I have had a few replaced under warrenty with OZ, for cracking on the inside rim.

They did not have any impact marks or excesive run out. None were used in motorsport applications.

To be fair to OZ they replaced them without any fuss.

Whats the difference in weight between CHs and CKs in 19"?

Depends on the offset and width
A few examples.

CH014 8.5x19 et30 5x100 is 11.5kgs
CH026 8x19 et50 5x112 is 11.25kgs

CK001 8.5x19 et35 5x112 12.80 kgs
CK014 8x19 et44 5x112 is 12.00kgs

hope this helps
Philip

yep cx-r looks really nice... TBH i would prefer lighter wheels if i am gonna replace the OEMs. a 7-8kg wheel will be awesome for me...

I have just spoke to OZ poland and they have told me that there are Ultraleggera aplications for S3, but OZ IT said that fiting ultraleggeras in 18' may involve, some changes with MUD-GUARD (I am not sure is this correct word in english...).

I don't understand why they are selling wheels that involves changeing structure of car...

Several friends of mine have OZ Ultraleggera 8x18 ET 45 on their 8P S3s and nobody has any issue.
Even with H&R springs fitted the wheels do not rub.

If you use a 19 inch rim (any rim, with et 45) then you can have some rubbing in the wheel arch. Again you can easily get rid of this by removing/modifying a small screw under the wheel arch.

Thanks mate, unfortunetly in Poland road condition are soo bad that riding on a 19' is a bad idea...

How much weight BBS CK 8x18?

Well I have 18 * 8" UltraLeggeras on my S-Line 2.0TDi, that is with Eibach Pro-Line Springs and Koni FSD shocks - no issues.

Best bet would be to email OZRacing Italy for fitment advice, they helped me no end.
