Some people have sheer dedication, pots of money and shed loads of time on their hands! Good thread tho if you've not already seen it:-

or the super quick version:-

And even similiar here in the UK:-

I'd love to know what the TDI engine sounds like through the converted RS4 Exhaust, wonder if it would be much different to standard 1.9 TDI?!

****** HELL!!!!!!!!
Love to know what the cost was, cant be far off the price of buying a second hand one.
mind you it is different, love the colour, really stands out!

guy near me makes exhausts and reckons he can make your car sound exactly how you want it. the rear would probably sound nice through the rs4 system but its the front end really as youd still hear the deisel lump chugging away.
if my car looked like that i wouldnt care what it sounded like

gotta be the best mod/conversion I've seen to date, but the cost man must have been outrageous but with a nice garage setup like that then I'm guessing money isnt a problem, ****** nice garage setup aswell as car job

if my car looked like that i wouldnt care what it sounded like

Yes you would.
I had an A4 tdi with Abt styling, nothing to the lenghts of that RS4 conversion but i hated the noise the engine made compared to the looks of the car.Sometimes i would go as far to say it was embarrasing, clunk, clunk, clang, clang.:(

I love the look of the RS4 and like the economy of the 4 cylider diesels in fuel and road tax terms. However I think to justify (kind of) the exterior, the engine would need performance mods too.

Completely stupid to do all that when its likely cost more than e genuine RS4 ? Also consider what the car is now worth ?????

Stupid in your eyes maybe, but for number of us its a learning curve & helps others, plus bet he makes more money from it aswell at shows so its a case of seeing the whole picture cause then they would most likely get people asking for work to be done by them, its not just about the cost of the job fella its what comes after aswell, thats the modding business, speculate to accumulate.

Also given how much you can tune diesels now you could do a hell of alot to the engine side that would even challenge an RS4, yeah it costs but look at what we spend on ours, Allard would no doubt give that a serious boost now they're staying in business.

Thats what makes me laugh on here, people would spend thousands on tuning & wheels etc etc but when it comes to detail like customed carpets with embroided logos etc they say oh £50 is to much, now thats funny, lol.

THe cost would be huge for this type of conversion and tbh looking at the sale add in the UK link, the car is being sold for £18,000 and has had over £20,000 spent on the conversion, so financially for that car is not profitable however it's a company that do this kind of work so as Nigelhobden said it helps to get bring in other business.

As far as the gold coloured saloon in Norway goes, the guy says in his full thread (the top link) over there a second hand RS4 costs the equivelent of around $200,000 due to some VAT thing or other, so if that's true this is a much cheaper option for him. He's done other vehicles too, so again can only bring him more custom. He did do a ****** good job of it. Def not everyones cup of tea tho, I appreciate.

I think the Build is Amazing but the colour is fugly!:puke2:

I know its the point of modding but the brakes are just a waste of time.there aint enough speed to be using them to their potential.
On the other hand, if he does the Uprated Turbo and tuning to give him the 450lbs torque then hey thats another story.

IMO though I couldnt justify spending that amount, Id rather have the real thing.
Of all colours he could hve had and he picks that.Nasty...

To spend that kind of money on an old A4 is frankly stupid He will never recoup the outlay !!unless he sells is to someone as daft as You !! And as for tuning a diesel to close to the performance of an RS4 What planet are You on ??
Speculate to accumulate NOT to loose thousands !!!

Again I say Stupid in your view, but from where I'm standing ****** good business sense.

Dont think you've quite grasped the whole point of them doing the job in the 1st place, try seeing the whole view point & understanding its not about making money of the car directly to sell, its to show others what they can do & I'm far from daft & neither are they from my understanding & others on here, also talking of diesels have you read recently about the R8 diesel, Allard for one are a fantastic diesel tuning company that can do alot of things with the engine, yeah more money but end of day it wasnt about trying to turn the car into an rs4, it was all about there abilities

Oh there's an A3 diesel on here that DevonMikey has with still great economy: 06 Audi 2.0 PD140 Sport TDI Quattro S-LINE.Diesel,propane,NOS,hybrid turbo etc......
330 bhp @ flywheels 263 bhp @ wheel 440 lb torque. .

They can go further than this, so its not beyond possible, just depends on money, even if I bought for 18k & had it tuned to this I'd be extremely happy as economy would be 30-40 still & I get the RS4 looks & extremely powerful, cant complain about that can you.

As for speculate to accumulate, after seeing what they did to that car, do you think they're be making just a few hundred punds from other peoples cars now or literally thousands, maybe slight bit more thought process needed mate, if I spend 20k on the car to get to that look & make 100k out of extra work from others to me thats good business sense, that was the whole point!!!!!!!!

if I spend 20k on the car to get to that look & make 100k out of extra work from others to me thats good business sense, that was the whole point!!!!!!!!

I think that was the guy's motivation, to show what his business could do. This must have been posted on numerous forums across the world - top advertising IMO.

Thankyou someone sees the business sense.

yeah I've seen it on at least 4 sites & thats the minmum considering the high level of workmanship, fantastic job & how professional did they look, even the garages were stunning to work in, lol

I noticed the Garage looked like its a holiday resort, wouldnt mind travelling to work everyday eh!!:)

ye ****** nice huh, given me whole new ideas for building new home in italy when got the money that is, lol.

I agree with you both on this, there is far more to this project than spend X and sell for Y - the reputation for the business will have been boosted by an immeasurable amount by this project. Money doesn't buy that quality of advertising!

I would still rather have an RS4 that looked like a 1.9TDI :sly:

lol, ye me to rather have rs4, ye ur spot on u cant buy this kinda advertising, word of mouth is best kind & its certainly spread from there original forum thread huh, really is 1st class mod I have to say, the colour is growing on me to as saw an RS4 saloon in black & when I thought back to this I actually preferred the modded colour, thats what the RS4 is about, being special, different,(ye I know its a 1.9TDI) but u get me I think

But is not an RS4.....! Thisis nearly as bad as buying a mr2 and making it look like a Ferrari 360. If they guy is advertising his skills then it is a job well done. But I cannot imagine many takers. Why spend 20K doing up a 1.9tdi when that 20K can buy a hell of a lot car in orginial format.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Righttttt, ye of course, making an MR2 into a ferrari, ye ok fella of course it is, I mean A4 modded bodywork with RS4 parts, urm same line same manufacturer pretty much near same chassis, yeah course its that bad isnt it, dohhhh not, use your head

they wernt buying/modding a car to drive around on the roads for everyday use like we would were they

Some people just dont grasp things to well do they, 20k will most likely make them double or more than that anyway & save them literally thousands in advertising on the forums & car sites/mags, IMHO its been ****** clever overall, some people need to get out of the mentality of them trying to make it an RS4 & realise it wasnt about this anyway

If I was needing someone to mod/bodywork my car they would be my 1st stop without a doubt if I was based near them, fantastic work of the highest standard

But it's still diesel!!

I would prefer orignal RS4. OK, the guy is showing his talents, converting simple into lookalike RS4. Maybe he did it purely for the show, to win awards or something. Like choppers bikes in the States, where every week, there is a show for best bike. Same here.

But it's still ****** puny 1.9 diesel!! He could have done with 2.5 Tdi with Quattro and beef it up like RS4? Imagine choosing between Pamela Anderson (with fake boobers implanted) and Angelina Jolie (with original a-bombs)?!? :hubbahubba:

I think its fantastic, having messed around myself with cars for many years I can appreciate the dedication, skill and craftsmanship put into the car as a project.

If its what is wanted and brings kudos to the company then it doesnt matter that it under performs so long as it achieves the original goal which must have been to make the vehicle look the way it does so great stuff !

There are plenty of high performance cars around that look like sheds

Everyone has a different opinion!
I grasp what he's done but think he is Veeerrrry brave and Stupid!
Im sure he could have came over here for a few weeks and done what he's done and still save himself plenty of doe!!
Chaper 1 verse 5..

What a controversial thread I seem to have started, mwhahahaha :)

It seems that your poor spelling and grammar is a result of repetitive head banging. 0/10. Must pay more attention in class.

It's not stupid at all.

Not everyone modifies a car to sell, most modify for their own pleasure.

If it's then sold 5 years later, then it's been worth it, 5 years of motoring in a unique car you were happy with.

Wicked thread, wicked mod, wicked advertising and that guy must feel well satisfied completing that. As most of you know you feel good when you do a good job on a little mod but that is the tops. It shows he has passion too.
Goood on him

I can understand the point to a certain degree, but it seems like a huge cost and a lot of hassle for a body kit. If you really wanted a diesel RS4, it would be cheaper and easier to buy an RS4 and put a diesel engine into it.

Not when the guy stated that an RS4 in his country would cost the thick end of $250,000!

I like it. As Siena says, if he gets years of pleasure from it then thats the main thing. Nobody who buys a car expects to make a profit do they?

$250,000 is a **** load of money.
Can you imagine that though, Buying an RS4 and actually putting a deisel in it,lol!!
....you never know, someone might tackle it.

It just goes to show his sense in some of this, for example by the sounds of it, ROCKO has now got several cars to Camo due to the high interest he's got with his. yeaaaahhh different scale of money with Rocko's and the RStdi but same sort of Logic.

How about we all chuck a load of cash in, buy a couple RS4's and take them to Norway and sell them for **** loads of cash till we can afford an RS4 of our own..:p

Thought the currency was NOK in norway anyway?

Excellent work, and if he makes some coin out of it, then no problem with that in the slightest.

Personally it's a waste of money. To shows what he/they're capable of = brilliant. But hopefully not too many people spend that sort of cash on their cars. Think modding a car to look individual and sporty is brilliant, but trying to copy something EXACTLY is just wrong.

Imagine everyone crowding around it gawping and drooling. Only for the owner to arrive and look all smug, get in and 'fire her up', then for everyone to cough and laugh at the sound of the 4 cyl DERV coughing out all that black smoke ?!

Just plain embarrassing...

;)

From that comment I deduce you are still in a classroom.

It’s funny to see how people have reacted to this thread.

This was obviously done with clever marketing in mind.

The company are banding around cost figures etc, if this was done for marketing purposes, this project would have been cleverly documented within their companies accounts so it will have made this project more cost effective than for example if I were to undertake this project. They will also get the body parts/paint/labour costs at much less than a private individual.

In my own opinion the car has been prepared to a very good standard but from a private individuals point of view it would make no sense unless you have bags of cash to throw @ a project where you will see no financial return. I would love to make my avant look like the RS4 version but would be embarrassed everytime I was overtaken by civics/volvo's/saabs etc

Go to Allard mate & I would guess the only thing that would overtake you is an RS4, lol, that wouldnt be so bad then huh, lol

But as someone already said we all do mods etc but we never expect to make money of the cars do we if we are completely honest, I've spent thousands on my cars & never made money on them at all, but what fun its been doing & still do

Car modifications, a waste of money?
I disagree.

Waste of money's subjective -

If you modify your car, spend little on her, and hate the end result - waste of money.

If you modify your car, spend insane amounts of money on her, and are pleased with the end result, money well spent.

It's irrelevant whether you'll get your money back come resale time, you love driving her, all good.

The opinion of others wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference.

I too have spent a lot on my car, and as per a standard RS4, she's lacking in the power department, an issue that's being addressed.

But to be honest, I've come up against a few RS4's whilst out in my car, and none of them have embarrassed me - like the true automobile enthusiasts they are, they've been more interested in looking my car over - one actually trailed me 12 miles to my home, just because he wanted to have a friendly chat!

:applaus:Yeah another person that thinks outside of the box, well said fella

Shire horses ring a bell for some reason
